It is sharp, looks like a lot of fun. I bet insurance is great since you can claim it's a "motorcycle" but it looks more like a sports car. :)

I like it. Maybe I can claim it's a bicycle and skip all the rigamarole. :D

I'm thinking if they made it weatherable (doors, HVAC) it would make a perfect commuter. I'd probably trade in my car for one of these:

http://www.flytheroad.com/ Based on the carver, I wish they were for sell already, I'm getting tempted to buy one because the lesbaru only gets 25 mpg on the highway and highway is the only time I use the car now.

I'm sorry to tell you doc that the t rex was not from bombardier...
it is way more expensive (60 000) than the under 20,000 dollard that the version can am spyder (bombardier)

and in some country no need to have a bike licence. just regular driver's licence

I first saw one of these months ago in a video posted from a big bike week rally and been thinking of the EV possibilities ever since. The T-Rex in its Big Bike gas version sells for $60-80k so scratch that project. Scale it down to about 1/2 the size and make it a 1-seater, power it with an Etek and 40 Milwaukee V28 packs (2s20p, 52v/60Ah). Now that sounds more like a realistic project.

yep, reverse trike cars are a good way forward. Lighter by nature..
There are a good few reverse trike kit cars around...kits can be as little as $7000. http://reversetrike.com/
Even pPeugot are having a think.. http://www.peugeot.com/tradition/concept_cars/en/cc_20cup_fiche.htm

Or, perhaps best of all (for us KMX lovers), from Aprillia, http://reversetrike.com/aprilia-magnet.html Love the wheels.

Not nearly as cool, but probably much cheaper, are the little GoCars around San Francisco. They're 50cc gassers, which means an Etek would be a significant performance improvement. Their website indicates they sell both new and used ones  , but no prices were shown.

They look very usable. It would need a canpoy to be much use on this wet island though

The T-Rex is a great machine, but a little heavy for electric drive I reckon. It'll take a few kilowatts just to keep those massive tyres rolling. This is a much more realistic proposition, and it looks pretty good too. Maybe it's only me that thinks so though – they still can't find the backing to get it into production: http://www.cree.ch/

I got an instant reply from goCar, they said...

We are the exclusive distributor for this vehicle in the US, and are primarily offering them for sale as part of our franchise network. However, we anticipate making vehicles available for sale to persons that can utilize the vehicle for its high gas mileage and ease of parking; perhaps as a commuter car or as a fun "errand runner".

Prices for new vehicles are currently $5,300. We anticipate also having used vehicles for sale. The price for these vehicles depends on mileage, nut is likely to be in the range of $2,500 - $3,000.

The vehicle originates in Europe and is classed as a motor-driven cycle in California and being a three-wheeled motorcycle, a standard automobile driver's license is sufficient to drive the vehicle on roads with a 45 MPH speed limit or less. If you live outside California, you may wish to verify with your State DMV, how they may classify such a 50cc vehicle.

Not a bad price huh?

Beautiful car. Atrocious paint job.

Why can't I make a new thread? I want to talk about the battery in the new Classic. Supposedly there are current tests showing 58 hours of life! What kind of friggin' battery did Apple put in that thing?!?!

I bet if I plugged an ipod into my a123 pack it would power it till I was 69 years old!

I liked that too Malcom, its so perfectly practical. Reasonable pricing too, I think this one is more than a flash in the pan, and wouldn't mind betting we'll actually be able to own them soon!
