Hey, I was wondering, does anyone have a blown Phoenix HV ESC? I'm looking for a burnt ESC that blew because of blown capacitors.

I have a bunch.

Bear in mind, if it were only blown caps, the ESC would still run. Any ESC that will not run has more than just blown caps.

Matt

Sounds ok. I just want to mess around with the ESC to see what the primary problems with blown caps are and to learn about how they're heatsinked and anything else that might strike my interest, and I don't want to mess around with a working one. (Mine's been faithfully working for over a year and a half and I don't want to screw it up. :) )

So, let me know if you're willing to sell any to me.

Did you want a 110 or a 160?

A 160 would be $50. I could send you a 110 for shipping only. :)

Matt

I'll take a 110. Let me know what your paypal address is and the amount you want, and I'll send it to you. You can send me a PM if you want. :)

Hi everyone.

My name is Thomas Porfert. I work for Castle Creations Tech support department. I ran across this thread/forum while trying to help a customer trouble shoot his Phoenix 110HV. I don't mean to hijack this thread, I just wanted to let you all know that any blown Castle Creations controller have a core value. I'm sure you all know the warranty is not valid because they are being using in these applications. But our non-warranty flat repair fee will get the controller replaced and includes the shipping back to you, regardless of how they were used or how they failed. Here are some prices of the controllers you may be using.

Phoenix 85HV - $70.00
Phoenix 110HV - $90.00
Phoenix 140HV - $150.00
Phoenix ICE 80HV - $95
Phoenix ICE 160HV - $135

Hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!

Hey Thomas,

Yes, we are aware of that. I am merely willing to help those I am aquainted with. I actually have 4 blown Hv160s on the bench to send in right now. These were all blown by my own R&D, nothing to do with any problem with them at all.

Say "Hi" to Bernie and Joe Ford for me. :)

So, is there still a back-order on HV160s?

Matt

We're still out of stock on the 160HV's; I think we are still 2-3 weeks out on the next build, but I'd have to check out on the floor to find out for sure. I know some of our resellers have them in stock, but I'm not sure what the rules are for posting links and mentioning vendors. If it is safe, let me know and I'd happy to pass the info along.

I must say, I am very impressed by the level of knowledge that everyone here possess. In the RC world, most people don't understand the inner workings of brushless technology; quite a few barely understand basic electrical theory. It's a relief to see people that understand things on a higher level. We always enjoy seeing our controllers being used (and working fairly well) in applications they were never intended for.

I understand oths have them in stock. That is no problem. I have a local shop that I get a volume discount from. So, I buy from them. But they are out of stock as well.

No big thing. I can wait, I suppose. I know you are moving right now. So, is Astro Flight. It seems like some companies are, indeed, expanding!

I Looooove seeing you company reps here. Now I get to say everything I've been thinking about for months, to someone who wants to hear it.

Matt's the one primarily responsible for all the ebike related controller sales of CC stuff, he was the first, and still the most experienced.

My point here is, value him, he is a great resource. And by value, I mean listen to him, and give him cool stuff for testing.

If I wanted to destroy (I mean test) controllers in real-world situations, I'd give them the Matt without hesitation (or Luke).

If you continue to bop around, you will see a massive amount of work happening with controllers. All stuff you could do. One of the big things in the last few months is adding sensors to RC motors to improve low-speed operation. Sure would be nice if a CC unit was available to handle sensors. And maybe Regen or cruise?

I'm between the two approaches right now, small RC ESC sensorless, or large-box traditional Ebike sensored controller. If CC made one that fit in between, I'd buy it right away, up to, say, $300.

I think that's about everything I wanted to say, thanks for the attention.
