Anyone planning to upgrade to the DPC-18? It has a couple of nice features over the 14 model, but I'm not sure it's worth $90. Apparently, it's pretty new, so I can't find too many reviews yet.

Here are some of the features from the Luna site:

Full Color Display

Automatic Night Mode (with customizable light sensitivity)

Up to 9 levels of assist

Choice of Percentage or Voltage display for Battery

USB Charger

Accurate battery gauge

Watt OR Amp Display to gauge how much you are pulling

Clock

Password Lock

Error code list and memory

I'm wondering if they actually fixed the clock on this model, as we all know the clock is worthless on the 14.

Supposedly, the battery life meter is more accurate, and maybe it recognizes higher voltages? I wouldn't hold out hope...

Apparently the USB charger is still only half an amp, so no improvement there.

I'm also hoping the new style buttons are more responsive.

I just bought a BBS02 kit and opted to upgrade to the DPC18. It's good in my limited use so far. Easily legible in the daytime and evening, and nice size of display. Unfortunately my SoC continues to read 100% on my 48v battery pack after 20 miles of riding so I'm not holding my breath there. Clock has been accurate but only 24 hours on it so far.

The USB connection to charge my phone is nice and works well. I can't compare the buttons but they seem to work well.

Any update on wether the clock keeps time?

Thanks!

clock appears to keep time. I unplugged the battery for some time yesterday and it's still correct.

That's fantastic! Still unsure about upgrading, but that definitely helps.

Once locked with a code can that lock be removed with a different screen
Giving the bike a new owner or is it possible that its only tamper proof

I think the lock is only on the display and not the controller.

I'm curious to know if there's a way to alter the odometer so it'll reflect the miles I rode with the old display. I've googled it a few times, but didn't come up with anything.

Just learned from another thread, that setting the DPC-14 to not automatically shut off will allow proper time for the internal battery to charge and will then properly maintain time.

It sounds legit to me, so I'm going to give it a go tonight!

it works but if your battery has an off switch or if you remove it to charge it, the internal battery will deplete fast.

I did an overnight charge with the display on and it held 2 days with 2x 1hour in-rides before getting out of sync (on a 750C which is very similar to the DPC-14 / 850C)

Is there any reason that this display couldn't be used for a hub motor. Such as mac or leaf?
Everything that I have read mentions the bafang mid drives only....

I know it’s a few months since you posted this, but Bafang themselves sell all their controllers with fwd hub motor and rwd hub/mid setups, so I think the answer is yes.
