a guy I knew bought a cobra replica at the barrett jackson auction, but not just any cobra. this one had an aluminum body that was polished to a mirror shine. They make the bodies at a old factory in poland that used to make mig fighters. the engine and chassis are very nice and made by some dudes in idaho. really nice work too. though I never saw it in action it sure was purdy. I would have liked to take one of those shells and throw it on top of an electric chassis, saving weight wherever possible.

^^^Druuuuuuuuuuuel hope they had a decent motor in it to match the body!

I would love one with carbon fiber body myself, the space frame chasis they make here in Perth for the replicas are
a thing of beauty too. Be sacrilege to make an electric out of one :?

The carver one looks interesting, seems like a one-seater though.

Here's one that seems to be near my dream machine. It appears aerodynamic, it's a two seater tandem AND a hybrid.

It's not a reverse trike, but everything else looks pretty rad. Assuming the disadvantages of normal trikes isn't overwhelmingly bad compared to reverse trikes with this one, then definitely cool. It also seems like it might have some economic potential given its forecasted release of sometime in the next year or two, but the fact that it only appears as a drawing isn't too inspiring, so I'm guessing it's more of a "investment hedge" - if gas prices go up insanely again, it's likely this would see funding.

Nope, the Carver is a tandem 2 seater.

The hybrid one you are looking at is (was??) licensed from Carver-Holland (Just noticed a press release that Carver filed for bankruptcy in june of this past year. :( ) and it's been "soon to be released" in the USA for at least three years now so I'm not holding my breath.

Well if it doesn't have to be realistic, then it needs to fly, operate as a sub, is a time machine, and can control and travel through worm holes. I think that about covers it...no wait, it has its own on board fuel source that never needs refilling or charging, and of course climate and pressure control so at least 2 occupants can travel in safety. Also, it would need a cloaking device, protective shielding, hover parking with remote control, and some type of foolproof and secure security system. You wouldn't want to go to another planet, loose your key, sustain damage, or have it stolen.

If it does that stuff, I wouldn't care what it looks like or what color it is.

You guys did list some cool cars. I liked all of them too.

ok, dream car sci-fi edition

Tardis_800x600.jpg

the tardis, not much for looks, but oh the features. just about everything john listed, he said it didn't matter what it looked like  . plenty of room to park a return of the jedi speeder bike in there for day trips.

Amphibious car might be cool too

I will someday build a Lotus Seven style kit, and likely use Honda K-series power. :)

The #1 factor that makes me like a car is how tiny, light, and low it is. I like car's that I can lift up an end of by myself.
My idea of driving perfection:

I am going to guess you already know of the LoCost builders and owners forum:
http://www.locostusa.com/forums/

There are one or two threads there on an electric drive train for the kit as well.
As is currently the issue, battery weight for the chassis remains the limiting factor.

StudEbiker,

My buddy has the Elise, he let me drive it once. This car is on rails, and its a kick in the pants! It is tough to get in and out of though. It would be a pain in the... ahem, if you want to use it as a daily driver. Very nice "budget" exotic car! (compared to hundred and up exotics)
he put a super charger on it now, he has not let me drive it since that addition!
he drives it from time to time, and takes it to the track, but even he gets a bit tired of the in and out, but that few seconds of annoyance is totally worth it when your behind the wheel!

The car I may actually be able to buy one day that I would really like to have is one of these:

What's not to like?

Alot...but we get it...you don't like cars :?

I found a matching pair, my 'realistic' dream car and a daily driver to pick up the milk and bread!

Hey, I'm not too far from the central coast. If he ever needs anyone else to drive the Elise around be sure and look me up. There is one here in town that I occasionally see (believe or not) at the grocery store. Definitely not your average grocery getter. We have friends and family down in Eureka/Arcata area. I don't know if you've ever done the drive down through the redwoods between here and there, but good an Ariel or an Elise or something similar on that road would just be bliss, as long as you don't get stuck behind an RV :!:

I'm a little surprised no one has commented on the Tucker pic. I have been a fan of Tuckers as long as I can remember really. I got to see one once and it was by pure chance. I had no idea I was about to see one and then there it was. A moment I will never forget. It is an amazing car in real life. One night I was talking with a friend of mine discussing "what might have been" if Tucker had ever made a two door. That's what he came up with....just to torture me I think. :(

for me: dream car: Tesla Roadster

more obtainable car
Series 8 RX8 with electric conversion (to keep the rotary theme but replace the rotary rubish). There wouldn't be any lead in it though. LifePo4 all the way. (or whatever batteries replace LiFePo4 by the time i get to save up for it (this will take years!))

bit more practical
R34 GTR converted to electric - would be great to have a car with so much technology under the hood, run new technology!

Mine, been putting money away for 15 years for one and every time I get close to putting a deposit on one. Something comes along like kids house etc etc. Soon though soon... I raced against some in sprints and got to drive one and that was it. Wanted one ever since. Sports car perfection. Stuff your roofs and ac.
