I asked the seller if it was a 2009 and he said yes.

Found this thread from Dec 2011 suggesting a counteroffer of $200 for a $250 listing of the same bike, but guessing this one is in better condition, I'll know when (if) I check it out.

If the seller doesn't mind me taking it for a long ride, I could get a rough idea of how well the battery has held up.

Any suggestions?

I own EPLUS 1000W ,
there are very few owners on this forum. If you still haven't done search for "Eplus" on these forums so I encourage you to do such search.
My is not powered on front hub anymore, I converted it to Lithium which is not so difficult, electrically I mean.
USA - designed EPLUS is sophisticated edrive which stands out for :
- efficiency
- smoothness with wonderful linear throttle and regen
- complete silence even in hard acceleration
- durability
- all kind of protections built in - thermal /you cannot burn Eplus motor/, overvoltage, etc.
if advertised Eplus has below 1000miles it is the bargain for $500.
Are you new to ebikes????
To appreciate EPLUS you need to ride other ebikes like from Wallmart IZIP to Stromer for example - everything is in comparison.
here is more reading on EPLUS:

Thanks, miro13car!

This would be my first ebike. I have done a lot of reading on the subject off and on for several years. I've test ridden some low-end ebikes. I've test ridden a Zero electric motorcycle (and have also read way too much about them). I'm an experienced cyclist, and I also have experience with various sizes of bicycle trailers. I've had a Honda CT110 (small motorcycle / trail bike) for a year and a half (my first "car").

I was able to test ride the E+ 1000w Elite today. It seems to be in pretty good shape. The front derailleur needs some attention / may need to be replaced. It has been ridden quite a bit, so I'm guessing the battery pack isn't "all that it once was", however it seemed to have been well-maintained and to still have some life left in it. The owner said this: "Yes the battery seems to be in great condition still, I really believe it has a lot of life left in it. However, I have not kept track of charging cycles, and I've had the computer serviced so it does not have an accurate history of usage hours."

Is $500 a good price?

I'd hop on it!
That's a great deal even if you had to replace the battery right away.
I recall a thread where a member opened one up after many 1000's of km.
looked brand new inside. Pretty impressive engineering.

Offer 400$ and haggle.
Run.

the most important is to determine millage.
So this Eplus had display/controller replaced and original millage not entered into new display/controller by service, I understand?.
Still original tires? Worn out?
I am on the lookout for low millage EPLUS 1000W myself.
Beauty of EPLUS are 9 /!!!/ power levels and 9 regen levels which are NOT gimmics , so it can be very stingy on battery when you need it or it can go 30mph but only on fresh battery.
All problem of EPLUS is NickelMetal Hydrate 30-cell hub battery with its voltage sag, fast ageing, never ending charging, etc..
Eplus is closed propertary edrive which will not accept third-party battery just like that. Read about my conversion how I powered EPLUS on Lithium A123 20Ah.

The best ones are with neglected batteries when stored for winter when battery would go into protective mode so charger would not recognize battery.

Thanks miro13car, Brentis!

I purchased the E+ this morning, very excited!

I'll start a new thread about it once I've "gotten my story straight". :)
