Doing some research, I want to build an E-BMX.

Would this setup work?

Battery Setup

So far the total is $1626.97

This is what I would like it to look like, but will a little more power and range.

Things I am not sure about...

1. 72v Controller ( Can it handle the 75.6v hot voltage?) I cant seem to find specs on the controller, any one know the voltage range?
2. Anyway to estimate top speed and range on a this setup?
3. What am I missing?
4. Is this combo going to work, any advice?

20,000mAh x 22.2V = 444Wh

444Wh / 2.16kg = 205.6 Wh/kg

Something wrong there..........

Whats wrong?

Im sorry I don't know anything about electricity...

The energy density is too high. The pack can't be 20,000mAh (20Ah) and 22.2V. Or, the weight is wrong.

Prob the weight is wrong...

I dont think they would mark it 20,000mah just to scam some one...

So do you think this setup would work?

Maybe stick to the trusted batteries from HobbyKing, it work out cheaper, but you would have to design a harness to connect all those batteries.

Also, the Lyens 72 volt controller can be had for much cheaper, more like half that price. Check out the for sale- New section for his offerings.

Good luck!

Vokus,

For the controller i recommend a 18 FETS from Lyen (Member here) for around 229 $ (from memory) this controller is more power full than the one you describe and you can use 75.6 Volt without any issues, a Throttle from Lyen is about 10 $ and you probably able to find a better deal for hydraulic brakes on Ebay with bigger rotor.

Good day!

why is he pedaling in the video, the bike has no chain? :?

Vokus,

This set up will work if "the specifications of those cells are true and correct" but until today I think that nobody here are using them you take risk with this battery pack.

The rest of this dream set up with a Lyen 18 Fets controller, X5304, throttle (from Lyen) and you just add a Cycle Analyst and you got a dream ebike also don't forget the torque arm in this power set up.

Good day!

I have revised my setup guys, can you critique please.

Vokus,

I just realize that your disk brake are mechanical disk brakes but the Cycle Analyst is still missing, this set up will work no problem, but you need to have the right charger/balancer for your Lipos pack.

Good day!

Is the motor disk compatible? Other than that the only other things you will need are lots of wire and connectors or paralell adaptors, for assembling the pack. Also the charger you plan to use.

Vokus,

You can use a 20S configuration for voltage (5S pack) this 20S configuration is easy to charge with the correct balancer/charger.

Good day!

Thanks for all the help guys!!!

What type of range and speed to you think I can expect on this 20" BMX setup?

Any one have any estimates, to make it simple just flat land.

Thread in the batteries section looks like the same battery. Its new. By its weight, volume, chemistry it should be 10-12AH. But no tests, or deliveries, as yet.

This should be a fun bike!

Bear in mind, it will be a wheelie monster! I built a 12kw 48 pound BMX bike last year. It was a handful, but lots of fun!

Just be careful with the throttle.

Need something to fit a disc brake to the front wheel? Could mean a new hub or an adapter and front and rear need some mod or adapter to mount the calipers too.

RE: the battery pack there is a specifcic thread on that exact pack floating about on the forum, i believe a couple have ordered these to test Liveforphysic? possibly being one of them IIRC...sounds waaaaay to good to be true thats for sure, my guess is theres one too many "0's" on the capacity figure...

I would look at a dirt jump frame if i were you, something with 24-26in rimset on, check Hyenas 5000watt Norco thread or Timmas225 latest build in the laste few pages of that thread... both fine examples of dirtbike frames being used for e-bike application...lomnger wheel base and frame more suitable for packin in batterys ....Either way best of luck with your"dream" build buddy :)

The best option is either a 20 inch trials fork (they come with disc brake mounts) or a White Brother's 20 inch suspension fork. I have run both and they are great.

If you want a White Brother's fork, I am a dealer for them. I can set you up. :)
