Hey guys,

I am a gearhead and I have a V8 swapped Nissan 240SX. I am looking into a new project using a Nissan Leaf drivetrain in a small 1,000# race car, and have been reading Arlo and Paul's threads here, lots of great info. Hoping to learn alot!

Welcome. The 240SX is a beautiful car. It seems the LS V8 is being swapped into everything these days. If I had a 240SX, I'm a bit more casual. I'd look for an all-aluminum narrow-angle V6 to use as a daily driver (Nissan VQ35HR?). Or an electric conversion? Anything would be better than crushing these wonderful cars just because they have 300K miles on them.

Here's an article that might be a useful start. I apologize if it covers things you already know.

If I were doing the swap from scratch today, I think I'd actually use an aluminum inline 6 from the E46 BMW 3-series. They are very cheap to buy and easy to swap over, they can run in standalone mode without too much wiring. The V8 is amazing, reliable, super fun, and I love driving it, but I also love the sound of a straight six engine at full song. The sound is one thing I'll miss about ICEs when everything is electric...

Thank you for the link! This forum has a ton of great info and I'm excited to learn more.

I won't miss it, but if you do, there are systems to fix that; plug into your throttle and your stereo system....

Best to use headphones, so as not to annoy people who recognize mechanical racket for what it is.
