E-Grom Charging Issue

I take my 6 12v lead acid batteries out of my E-Grom each fall/winter. Bike worked fine when I took them out, now with them reinstalled the charger shows red charging led for a second then goes to green showing a full charge. Voltage is 74 so its not full. Bike runs fine, and charger components look ok when I opened it up, no blown parts. I did check the batteries and one is 10.98V, so a bad battery but will this cause it to show fully charged when plugging the charger in? Would think it would still charge fully then fall flat when starting to ride.

Found your problem.

Don't do that. You won't regret trying something better. That's coming from a guy who used 12V SLAs for years, before better options were cheap and plentiful enough to make the switch.

Maybe, if the internal resistance is high enough for the voltage to rise a lot when the charger is connected. What are the voltages on each battery during charging?

You can charge each battery individually (or just the bad one) with a 12v charger until all are fully charged.

About 15 years ago, I converted 2 gasoline cars to electric (120v DC & 144v ADC), with each lead acid battery having its own 3a charger, (individual battery maintenance aka Ghetto-BMS for SLA).

Changed out the bad battery with another good spare I had and it seemed to charge up fine. Will ride it and recharge and see if that's fixed it for good.
