e-kit which uses bike chain & gears

I recently saw an Ebay auction of a e-bike kit which uses the bike chain and gears which seemed like a good idea to me (see http://stores.ebay.com/edeals-electric-bikes-and-batteries ) . Has anybody had experience with this system ? Who makes them and are they available in North America ?

That is a cyclone 500 watt motor. It is the same as offered by cyclone-usa and cyclone-tw.

there are several folks here, (myself included) that are quite conversant with most things pertaining to this motor; just search on "cyclone" and take a peak.
