i want to make a super light micro scooter for the holidays, something that weighs 3 kg with a 4 kg motor and 5kg of lithium in a backpack, like a super nifty folding push scooter...

what's available that's a good desing and not super pricey? what's a good design i could do?

Hmm, I've seen something like this done with a Razor style kick scooter. They stuck some batteries in the space under the footboard and used a highly modified brushless R/C motor as a hub.

I don't think you'll be able to do the same thing with the R/C motor, so figuring out what you CAN do might prove to be a bit of a challenge. I saw a similar thing where a guy stuck a sprocket onto the wheel, but he had to do some fabricating to do it.

Sounds like you want a Go Motorboard:

I've had one for a few years now. Nicely built. The only weak part is the wheels. They get pretty torn up on any kind of rough surface, and the plastic rim can break (broke one riding on a cobble stone street... )

But it's definitely a good, adult-sized, ultra-portable electric scooter.

As for making your own, you could start off with the Goped 'Know-Ped' and go from there....'
