Good thing the forestry service notes that e-bikes are not motorized vehicles...

Not sure why anyone would do a MXUS when the QS 205 motor is so amazing! It weighs more but you can make it weightless with 12, 15, 17 or 20KW. I have the 3.5T in a 17 inch rim and run the crap out of it peaking at 17,000 watts and still haven’t baked it yet. This is with ferrofluid and Hubsinks though! Definitely runs cooler with the Nucular 24F! With the MaxE I was running and the Nucular 24F I’m running now I can place the front tire against a wall and with the back tire on rough concrete I can smoke the tire….who needs more power than that? Who would want less I wonder? I could still turn the controller up to 20KW if I wanted to but I still find 17KW scary in many circumstances.

Just a different view from a guy who ran a MXUS in the past.

Skip the toys and get a real motor if it’s lacking power or heat resistance.

Yeah, I hear you Tom. I was just thinking the same thing. The QS 205 makes a lot of sense. I didn't think it came with the right drop out width, but I guess it does if Bombers are 150mm.

Since your a street rider I’d tell you to get the 3.5T and put it in a 17” rim like I have with ferrofluid and Hubsinks. You will never heat it up and if you go with a Nucular 24F you’ll be hitting 65 mph before feild weakening if your battery will put out enough watts. Mine does!

The 5T won’t like extended higher speed runs without getting hot. You will not want your Buddy’s to see your motor sweat!

cromotor v2 6k - 24 lbs
Clyte 5403 - 4k? 33 lbs
Qs205 - 3k? 28.4 lbs

I haven't weighed mine but with the complete wheel and tire its gotta be at least 45lbs.

So im guessing that the 3000 will have more torque but may get hotter quicker which could be about the same as far as heat control that I have now. But If I want to run 8K peak around 4k constant can this motor handle that? I noticed that the phase wire gauge is thinner than the Clyte and can not physically fit 10awg wire Is that an issue?

Trails are for wusses

It will get hot quicker but also cool down quicker. A prefer one that cools down quicker and save the weight just because you can always use ferro to coolt it down. So if you run xmsus 3k and 5403 with ferro, both will have the same good heat management but with the later you will just carry a bunch of dead weight with you...for what?
I always try to shave of the weight and personally would never go with anything like cro or mxus 5k because of just that - the weight.
If one does high speed cruises on the paved roads for miles, then yeah, I would start looking into cro and similar motors.

My 5403 phase wires are 3.4mm including insulation. I'm guessing 10g.

TV you got lucky! mine were 12AWG and I had to replace the whole shebang. Especially because of the coating they used. Mine flaked away and turned to dust.

So quick update on the controller thing. Managed to score a free casing from ol Luke at stealth along with my order of spares.

Upon disassembly discovered this. Looks like board was in contact with the housing, accelerating the entire heating issue. I have a feeling there supposed to be solder there... all along the corner.

Also.. quick heads up, bit ol rusting going on. Looks like moisture/water infiltration above the holes where the vboxx mounts, gonna need attention and bit of silicone to plug it up.

Also.. oh boy its been a bit of an adventure cleaning and fixing this thing up. Red loctite on so many bolts and this spacer... was on the wrong way Im guessing.

Last couple of pics. Just wanted to know if you guys with better eyes and brains than me can spot anything out of the ordinary or needs to be addressed. Did the silicone thing between the caps and board, hopefully that takes care of vibration issue.

Its interesting to see the insides of other peoples boards. Each one has differences. your caps are mounted vertical where are all of mine are mounted horizontal, My shunt is in a slightly different place as well. Each board feels bespoke.
