E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Rick,
That looks like pics of my legs before I got guards! I went with the Fox Launch Pro guards. The thing I love about em are they stay in place, you forget about em in a hot second but the best part is they can be put on after you put on shoes. 3 straps on the back.

will this be okay for a stealth bomber if im carefull fitting it as i no they are 24 inch tires

thx
steve

Hey Steve now I remember a couple of things, you're bodybuilt extra large & from near Manchester? I'd go with Emmett's suggestion for durability or if not then try here

Hi and help please,
While I was experimenting with another throttle I foolishly removed the pins from the crystalite throttle plug and didn't pay attention to the pin arrangement. Now I am not sure which colour to which, bright hay!
The controller plug has Red Black Green White in that order and the throttle has Red Green and Yellow. I assume Red to Red and Green to Green? Is the Yellow from the throttle to the Black or White from the controller? I am guessing black?

Also, have I interpreted correctly the discussion previously about the mxsus 4t motor? I can lace this hub motor to a 18" rim and get more torque off the Mark though lower top speed than my standard bomber motor and it will weigh 5kg less?

Finally, sealed up my motor and also double sealed each side by machining out a bit to add an extra seal each side. I am waiting for the repaired frame to come back and will report on the oil cooling ASAP. The wire/disc side had plenty of meat to machine out without compromising strength, however the sprocket side didn't have enough meat so I only took out a few millimetres and made a spacer to fit neatly inside the sprocket to properly hold the extra seal. I did note the sprocket side axle shaft was about .2mm undersize and almost loose on the lip seals, so I tightened the springs a bit on the seals. No oil leaks hopefully.

Thanks,
Clinton

Yes you will have less weight.
Bare MXUS: ~8.3Kg
Bare 54xx: ~14Kg

[Throttle] To [Controller]
Red: +5V RED
Yellow: GND Black
Green: Signal Green

can remember how it would connect to the controller, but I would try this above.

Thanks Allex,
Might be a silly question re motor weight, why [such a weight difference]? Is there less reliability, more prone to overheat? Just sounds too good to be true!
Thanks again,
Clinton

Haha ducky :)
Regarding the weight, a greater mass will take longer to heat up(but will take forever to cool), and that is the only one thing thats is great about this motor. The rest is like running a sportscar with a bunch of stones in the trunk.

Thanks gents,
All info is good info, no offence taken.
I do try to look at other threads on occasion, as pointed out it is usually interesting and useful, though it can be a bit daunting and difficult with the total amount of info in here.
Also it didn't even occur to me to look elsewhere on the forum for info on this motor, though in hindsight of course there would be more info.
Cheers,
Clinton

Well I do have a stack of Mxusv2 in the Aussie for sale thread ;)
And the new 12 tooth freewheels to suit.
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65209
The temp sensors are different to clyte but cycle analyst compatible. Doubt it'd work with the new stealth interface?

I managed to fit a new tube on the bomber today and thanks for all the help with sourcing a tube and
procedure to remove the back wheel

thx steve

does anyone have any experience with the MRP Groove 200 Forks ? how do they hold up?
The price is almost double the DMN USD-8, is there a big different on the performance or quality ?

the reason this thread is like an island to me is because my bike never breaks, so all I do is ride it. :)

I don't have the mrp grooves but I do have the marzocchi 888 and the difference is night and day. I would bet the grooves are as good maybe better then the 888's. the stock front end for offroad is not very good. There are a few options out there but I would definatly go for an upgrade.

At BCTECH, I am running the groove 180s. I like them, A just compression with air pressure in one leg and rebound in the other. Kind of like the 2013 KXF SFF Fork aka, the separate function fork.

So iv been givin these vuelta usa tyres ago,it was new when i put it on,
It's completely frocked my inner tube by rubbing against it as its cords a poking out
I did notice some slight bulging on side wall
So best steer clear of these ones

Was the cord visible before you installed the tires ? If so the number of tires available for the Stealth Bomber and Fighter, is starting to bee very difficult to get hold of.

I cant remember, but iv got another one at work im gona check it,if its the same im gona have to fit a halo contra that i bought as well
Its a real shame theres no sizes about would make things so much easyer
Hard enough finding 24x2.5 tyres

thanks 1abv and Rix.

the question for me is will they make a huge different on a heavy ebike. I can understand on a downhill bike, every little thing makes a different, much more adjustment can be done. But for a heavy ebike, I am not sure when doing a small degree tuning.

Any corner so far on the DNM usd8 in terms of off-road performance ?

is there a kevlar tire than will fit a bomber and are they a lot better to use?
what is the tire psi of a stock bomber tire?
i have seen these at £35 Duro Wildlife Leapard 24" x 3" Tyre and are they same as stock?
what rims do a stcok bomber have and are they the best?
if i put slicks on my bomber will it get faster high speed?
thx
steve

I am sure you can find a Kevlar tire, the Arrow Prime BIte 24x3 had Kevlar side walls, didn't hold up at all on the rear for me. The best 24" bike tire for the Bomber is the Razorback, aka wild life leopard, aka Halo Contra. They are all the same tire. Felt bicycles Bermaster is also a tough tire, and for road tires, the thick bricks are good, so I am told. You can go with a the crazy bobs, or Maxis worms but, they are not for offroad use.

I can only add to Rick's suggestion 'cos they're exactly what I would have suggested.

Dirt only, absolutely Razorback/Leopard/Contra
Street only, Felt Thick Brick for sure
Dirt & street, Felt Berm Master without a doubt

Stock rims are about as good as you're going to get for 3 inch wide bicycle tires. Only improvement possible on the rear is to build a rim for a ~19-inch MC tire like Rick and others have documented here many pages back. If you ride roads & put slicks on like Hookworms or to a lesser extent Thick Bricks & Crazy Bobs, you will have a lower rolling resistance and would have a marginally higher top speed but also better energy efficiency, longer mile expectancy depending on the road surface maybe somewhat at the expense of puncture durability. It's always best to change tires long before they wear out and flat easily. Expect only hundreds of miles from Razorbacks, especially if you ride them on road, while Crazy Bobs can last for many more miles than that on smooth even blacktop.

@ Remf, well put, thanks for the assist in clarifying.

@ Allex, when I commented about the thick bricks, it was because TV used them for a bit, I think he used two sets a black and a white pair. @ TV, whats up? Are the thick bricks worth recommending for road only use?

I also wouldn't recommend the Berm Master after several falls both attributed to them...I dealt with them the only way I felt appropriate!

[youtube]FMwH5PF03LQ[/youtube]

The tires I didn't see mentioned is the DMR Moto RT and DMR Moto Diggers. Emmet, Allex and myself have all had good experiences with these...at least on the front wheel.

I've found the DMR's at 2.35-2.4" does actually work on ok the rear IF run at high enough pressure. I've pinch flated them at 35PSI, but never had an issue when running them at 50PSI. I still prefer the 3" Duro/Halo on the rear since they are ok at 25-30PSI, but they wear so dam fast!

Cheers
