E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Damn TV, looks new.

I do try to keep it clean, but the lack of vibration has a huge positive effect it's longevity, and appearance. The initial cost of the bike keeps dropping because of how little it cost to operate, and maintain it.

Lincoln Quigley seems to have surfaced.

Anyone still chasing him?

Hopefully he makes right with the guys who bought stuff from him and all move forward.

On another note, the Tahoe Stealth crew sold 7 bikes with in a week of each other including the two demos #833 and #834 I had helped with for the Tesla/Stealth event earlier this year. I think this is a great sign. Especially since this the slow season for us as it winter.

Ooh that's interesting. I hope so too.

Interesting indeed, looks like an older model too going by the forks. I guess it'd have to be given he's been out of action for a year or so.
Anyone who's chasing him for parts / money let us know the outcome.

Just a final note on Quigley motorsports - as noted above his enterprise resurfaced selling stealth bikes on a AUS site.
I can confirm today that his failure to deliver $1000 of goods to me after payment in 2015 and several email exchanges does not appear to be due to any incapacitation or tragedy..... but rather it seems after contacting his enterprise this week by myself and direct by Stealth they have no interest in following through with the delivery of goods, nor do they have the interest or capacity to respond to my and stealth emails about this.

This small detail may be important to anyone considering buying from LQ or QMS....... as there was a glimpse of uncertainty in his condition and perhaps an reasonable explanation for this...... but alas at this hour I can only conclude it was nefarious and future customers should consider yourself warned.

If he comes out of the interweb shadows and makes good with this now 13 mo old claim I'll post up otherwise be careful out there.... fortunately this ebike world is rather small so we can minimize the future impact of ole LQ.

Cheers and happy holidays folks ;) ho ho HO!

I'm new here. I was looking at the design between the cranks on the Stealth B-52. Could anyone explain what is going on there? The design looks interesting. I like the chain placement that results from it. Is the box their way of having a gear shifting in a sealed system? Or just to relocate the sprocket?

Its 9 speed v-boxx twist grip on left grip, the swing arm is mounted direct to it so no need for chain tensioners etc

In short, yes. Think of the vboxx as a 9 speed mesh type transmission without syncros, and you are the motor. To change gears, one should to stop pedaling to get smooth shifts. This is because there is nothing spinning inside when you are not pedaling. So when you do pedal, and you want to change gears, its better to stop pedaling since there are no syncros to match current pedal cadence with the new slower cadence if up-shifting into a higher gear, or faster pedal cadence if down-shifting. Hope I didn't confuse you. Merry Christmas to all.

The VBoxx is a world class 9 speed pedal transmission. It's one of the things that separates the men from the boys in the eBike world. To get anything this nice on an eBike expect to pay $30,000 or more. It has a lot of desirable benefits. It's very robust, and low maintenance. Shifting is silent, and stealthy. Shifting can be accomplished from a complete stop, unlike a derailleur which must be moving, and is usually clunky in operation. Top gear is tall enough that you can have useful pedal input for short bursts even up to 50 mph, but 1st gear is so low you can actually pedal the beast without power. The middle gears are good for pedal assist on slow speed biking trails.

I have both types of bikes. Riding with a VBoxx is first class. Riding with a derailleur is low class lol

Any way I could get my hands on a VBoxx (and how much?) to fit it onto a em3ev/enduro frame? Or is that not practical? Trying to get a clear image of how the swingarm attaches to the VBoxx/sprocket area. Would be nice to know how they fixed the VBoxx to the frame too but I can devise my own ways. From an engineering standpoint, I like the V-Boxx. If I can't include it in my current build I guess I'll have to do another.

The V-boxx attaches to the frame, then the Swing arm attaches to The V-boxx

The em3 frame is an inexpensive frame with pretty tame geometry - ok for the lower price. Things like a pinion box or vboxx are up the ferrari price end. Not perhaps a great match.

Cheaper options would be a second hand hammerschmidt, one of sam patterson's drives from ebikes.ca or a schlumpf/schlumpf clone.

What about the geometry makes it tame? Rider position? I like your ferrari analogy.
My issues is, with the motor (QS273) and dropout size, I do not have room for more than one gear. I was hoping to put them to between the pedals otherwise I will end up with only one gear ratio. Wouldn't mind an option I could swap for moto style pegs when the mood strikes me. Looking into the options you suggested.

Anything over 4kw doesnt need gears for about 200w of leg input.

But a 2.5:1 schlumpf with a 36t front and 12t rear is a nice gentle pedal at about 55 to 70kph if wanted.

Since the 12 tooth actual teeth kinda mount off to the side I though I read somewhere that's the equivalent of a 3 speed cluster in terms of space used? If not I could use one but using a QS 205 I had to spread the drop outs just to get it to fit as is.

Interesting if it would work.

I don't think the VBoxx is available anywhere except through Stealth. The VBoxx is a stressed member of the frame. It bolts to the frame, and the swing arm bolts to the VBoxx.

Nice Christmas pic TV. It was 9F here when I came into work, a little colder than I normally like to ride. May break freezing today.

We actually hit 62 degrees here in Missouri but I completely tore one head of my rotator cuff and a partial tear on one of the others.......looks like I'm benched for 3 to 4 months after surgery.....

Bummer!

Sounds like you can be healed in time for late spring riding though. Hang in there bro and get well.

I guess for my design I was more thinking along the lines of backup propulsion if something crapped out and needed to limp home. Would be nice to have a few gears in that event. Otherwise using throttle only and a large kWh battery pack.

Thanks for the well wishes! Give me time to perfect the brass spot welding on a new 30Q or VTC4/5 or 25R pack.
