But what's up with this....???

"Update - Local Shipments Only -

From May 9th until the forseable near future, we will be restricting sales to local orders only. That will include direct pick up from our shop in Vancouver, or shipments to Victoria and the Gulf Islands. This step is necessary so that we can continue to provide the individual attention and product support that customers have grown to expect from us. We will follow through and ship parts to all those who have emailed us before this date, and especially those waited until May 5th to get a note in."

Non of Justins venders are selling out of their Canadian province anymore
I don't know but i suspect that this is an attempt at price fixing as Justin is the only crystalite supplier in .ca
Here in Ontario we have a good honest guy that hasn't altered his prices
but I know others have. Customers have no choice but to pay more than if they had purchased direct from Justin.
If this turns out to be true I will make future purchases from USA or Europe.

EDITED BY ME 29A:- This suspicion has proved wrong plz read full thread

Uhm... I buy direct from Crystalyte and have control over my own prices. So does Ebikeconversions in Alberta , and Joshua at EVsolutions . and Marc at marciustechnologies

Prices are on the up however, and this is unfortunate, shipping costs are not getting any cheaper, and someone has to eat sometimes lol...

I agree everyone should make a profit :!:
But are you allowed to sell to anyone in any province or are you the only distritutor allowed to sell in your area :?:

No diss intended

I can sell to anyone i want. So can any other dealer as far as i know.

Generally it's in the best interest of the customer to buy as close to him as possible to save on shipping costs, but there are no rules stating i can only sell to NB.. anywhere worldwide is all fair game.

Heck.. there are more customers than product at the moment, so limiting distribution is not a winning solution for anyone.

Crystalyte does not give much discount on volume shipping, and shipping by air freight is not even an option unless you like giving money away on every sale. ( has anyone ever checked on Air freight !!! ouch.. )

Justins prices are low, i've been using his price list to average quotes best i can, but doing the math.. i assure you i am not even considering quitting my day job !!! :( .. And kenny does not lower prices either, so every new shipment ends up costing more.. be it rims .. spokes.. etc.. it all adds up quickly.. then add labor to assemble all this and you are left with not a whole lot.

Only reason i do it, is i want to get started now for the future, and i love the ebike experience.. . it's NOT a profitable business at these prices !!!!

Thankyou Ypedal for that clarification.
Deepest sincere apologies to ebikes.ca

If the vendors had product on the shelves, they would be happy to sell to anyone, anywhere. Seems as though there's much more demand than supply right now for the Crystalyte products. Perhaps that will give other systems a chance to sell a few units to eager customers.

But what about getting one of the new DB's?
AFAIK they comes from Justin...

I got the older one with no speed limiting; no good for my next bike.

DrainBrain ( Or device formerly known as DrainBrain )

It's a digital display thing that allows you to measure how much power you have used from your battery, what voltage you are at, counts your battery cycles and alot more.... great device !!! i have 4 of them. :?

Thanks Ypedal

Actually I have one of the early editions.

Just not up on my jargon yet.

Cheers

Just thought I should clear the air on a few points here.

Price Fixing does not exist, we are just not THAT organized. ebikes.ca closed off shipping beyond the Vancouver area because their cupboards are almost bare. Their website is not kept up to date and where it says the number of batteries or motors etc. is 6 or 15 etc left in stock, it should read Zero or Sold Out. What is left is going to walk ins and people in the area of Vancouver.

ebikes.ca is NOT the sole Canadian importer/distributor even though it certainly looks that way sometimes.

As for prices going Higher, well as YPEDAL wrote Crystalyte have raised their prices. What wasn't mentioned was some of these increases have been 200 and 300% over last year. I know some of the wholesalers and contacted them and found they have substantially increased their prices to Crystalyte and what Kenny is charging is not out of order.

Crystalyte still relies upon companies outside of China for some parts and China likes to raise import duties. Crystalyte does not buy in Container loads and buying by the Skid means they pay more and get screwed on overland shipping.

As for WHY there is a shortage of Series 5000 750W Motors in Canada?

Well apart from 750W being illegal in Canada for "on road use", there just has not been a noticeable demand to justify bringing in more than a few per shipment. I have had a rear 5302 sitting here in Toronto unsold for several months, just no demand for the fastest motor Crystalyte makes.

I just ordered 16 of the Series 5000 motors for Americans, but no one in Canada wanted any. Dealers cannot be expected to stock motor models that no one wants.

Electricrider in Kansas is the Sole USA Importer of the Series 5000 motors and they are identifiable by being done in Black enamel with weird names instead of Model #s.

There is no Sole Importer in Canada for Series 5000 motors and Canadian Dealers are free to buy and then sell Series 5000 motors to Americans just as the Americans are free to sell into Canada---> we like to keep it simple

Electricrider kinda boobed on demand outstripping stock and have run out of Series 5000 motors, but their next shipment should arrive in a few more weeks.

Thats about all 4 now

Have resisted joining this Group cause I am determined to spend more time outside & cycling and not spend all my waking time on the PC annoying people

I received an email today from Zev at ebike.ca informing me that my batteries and charger are available however the redesigned (formerly named) BrainDrain is not yet available. Also the Crystalyte 408 motor and controller are not eta'ed optimistically until early July.

Regards,
Jerry

Hey this is Justin here with my first full peruse of the endless-spheres forum. I'm going to post a clarification on the website, but as explained by others in this thread, the move to local orders only was in response to getting way more inquiries than we have parts to sell. When the next sea shipment of hub motors arrives then things will be back as usual, and hopefully we'll be able to keep up with the interests and continue supplying unique parts to PEV enthusiasts around the globe.

As for price fixing or exclusively distribution, there is no such thing and I wouldn't stand for that for a minute. I've been hounded a fair bit by others in the business for selling parts too cheap but have resisted any price changes because I thought if we can make work while keeping the parts affordable then why charge any more, à la MEC.

But in the end they are right, when it comes to dealing with the overhead of running a commercial space in Vancouver, paying salaries for hired workers, dealing with all the QC and repair and troubleshooting issues, investing in tooling and test equipment, there is no way we could carry on as a viable and growing business under the current pricing scheme. So yes do be prepared for higher prices when the new inventory comes in, but rest assured that it is not due to any kind of collusion.

For all you who don't know, (maybe its just marty), umm...
Jesus & Joshua aren't exactly in the same religion, if you know what I mean.
I think both might want to distance themselves from that comparison. :D

Ja,

I restrained myself from playing with that one... but I think I know what marty was getting at.

Welcome, Joshua!
Welcome, Justin!

(p.s. Justin... maybe a "worst name contest" too? Winner gets a dead SLA!)
