Electical problems

you should post up pictures of the 5 pin plug from both sides, close up.

if the hall sensor is dead it should show the same reading on the motor side of the plug. put the voltmeter probe into the back of the motor side of the plug and measure there.

Ahhh, well when I built the bike, due to lack of equipment, I had to improvise a 5A rated nylon blocks sort of like this but with less terminals

In my desperation I junked them as I thought they were faulty and have now temporarily done wire to wire connections without solder. The bike is currently stored at my dad's house (which is way over in South London) so I probably can't send any pics till this weekend.

Furthermore, does anyone have any good places to buy a simple 5 pin connector (both male and female) for halls, preferably from the UK? I asked two local trade electrical shops but they just had the same sort of bulky and cumbersome nylon blocks as above. Also if I have to open up the motor and don't send it off to someone such as sacko and attempt it myself, does anyone know where to buy a cheap gear puller? I've had a look online and they seem to retail at around 15-20 quid, is that about right?

Thanks.

I use this JST plug for my hall.

The source is not from UK as I could not find it here

It is very small but the connection is very strong once you put the pins on the wires probably

Also, the puller should look like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TM-US-Bearing-puller-8-200mm-/301010657093

You should check the size of the motor it that fits ok

Because I already had them and a crimper laying around plus they happen to fit through axle hardware, I use 2qty Futaba 3-pin servo connectors for motor halls. One for red/black power and one for blue/yellow/green.

Also use them for throttle connectors.

Thanks for the links pat, the connectors and gear puller look good, I'll order them soon, cheapest one I've seen so far so thank you!

Ok so I've had a look at the hall wires, they're all intact, which means I think I'll have to attempt opening up the motor and see what's going on. As I think the hall is now busted (as I vaguely remember a higher than usual rolling resistance when the motor cut out) I'm looking to buy a hall or two. I've seen some on American websites and ebikes.ca, but don't fancy the long delivery times, so am looking for any UK vendors. Also, I'm assuming its ok to use 'any' type of hall sensor, for example is this ok?:

I found a whole list of them on uk ebay, but have no idea what to buy, they're all around a couple of quid. Any suggestions?

Thanks
