Electric bicycle - for an isolated island. Recommendation?

Both EM3ev and Grin carry a reliable battery. But if you go first class on those kits, I'm a lot less inclined to say you need two of everything. Two throttles perhaps, because a bike can fall over and damage a throttle.

Two of everything was aimed at if you were buying a bargain ebay type kit. Two chargers still not a half bad idea, unless you are buying Grin's Satiator.

Regarding the battery - many have emphasised buying a good quality battery from the get-go and I am inclined to agree. Can someone link me to where I can buy a quality battery? (unless a good one is already included in the aforementioned kits?)

Yes that kit has everything you need for a complete kit including a battery.
In terms of everything you need can be a complex question but in theory yes it has everything you need, its meant to be a complete kit.
If you buy say a dual suspension bike its probable you wont be able to fit the battery pack in the middle of the frame, but thats not the kits fault.

Both of those URLs are basically the same thing but he separates them by 36v or 48volt battery options. I linked to 48v because it will allow you to go faster, you can always easy back on the throttle if its too fast, but 36v battery means you could only buy a 48v battery later to go faster.

You could go for a kit without battery and buy his battery frame bag. And source a battery elsewhere, but I would recommend a em3ev battery pack, everyone on the forum here knows they build great backs there and list the cells etc you receive in you battery pack.

I would go with quality for the battery so em3ev 51v triangle in frame battery. Then go with a mac 10t with extra throttle and ask Paul for extras that you will need as you live on an island ( connectors ) ect. Cheap if shipped at same time. Don't get a to cheap battery.
