Electric scooter cuts power w overload?

Hi there, I have this 1800 watt 48volt scooter:

It has been nothing but trouble, so I bought an electric bike (Maxfoot) and now want to sell the scooter.
I want to solve the latest problem before selling. If the battery is fully charged it will run fine unless I go up a hill. Or after about ten minutes of riding and the battery gets lower than full. What happens is that the power suddenly cuts out completely. If I unplug and then replug the battery then power comes back. But it will cut out again soon.

Now, I saw a youtube vid in which the guy solved a similar problem by using/soldering a paper clip to bridge between two sections on his controller, which he said stopped it from overloading and cutting out. The thing is that his controller is different than mine, so I'm not sure where to do it on mine. What that guy was doing was defeating his current sensor, allowing the controller to pull higher amps from the battery. while that gives more power, it also will quickly destroy the battery.

Your problem sounds different. it sounds like you're hitting the low voltage cutoff under load. That can happen on a seemingly fully charged battery if the cells are old, damaged, or were never the best to begin with. Battery voltage drops under load. The heavier the demand for power, the more the voltage falls. the less capable the battery is with dealing with the load, the more the voltage falls. If it falls to the low voltage cut off, then the scooter shuts off until it gets a reset.
 
Hi there, thanks for your response. So I guess I'm wondering if there's anything I can do, or would I just need a new battery?
Can I trick the controller somehow to be more forgiving of low voltage cutoff?
