Currently I am using a car to commute from my house to my work place and back. Its costing me a lot of gas money and there is no point on me using a car for such small distance.

The distance from my house to work is roughly 5km I.e total 10km... There is a slight inclined hill and I can charge at my workplace.

So I need something fast, safe and problem free for as long as possible. So electric or gas? I have no knowledge about mechanics but I have little knowledge of electronics as I am flying rc aeroplanes. I also player soccer, twice a week and the total distance from my house to the field is about 20km..so I want to use for other smaller journeys..so what would you suggest?

And which models/brands would you recommend?

The 1500W version should fit your needs. They arent cheap but a blast to ride.

I am not sure about the legality of these because they are fast. Way faster than 20mph federal limit. As for maintence, anything going fast and mechanical will need servicing eventually. You can get away from that.

Best of luck.

looks good!

By the way I have found this, http://www.sunds-sportartikel.de/mach1-elektro-scooter-in-schwarz-mit-uber-1600-watt-leistungsaufnahme-mit-akkuwahl-original-csb-brushless-motor.html

looks like German and they are claiming 43km/h!

what do you think guys?

1600w that's geared correctly would be able to make that 43kph. Ask Evolution GTS about his speeds with the 1000w watt motors. I think you'd about be peaking the speeds you want to be at on these little scooters with that.

I'd say this "Slight Incline" could be tamed even by that $519 scooter at the mvly link. Without a good pic I can't say for sure but you might find it a bit small, though. you might be more comfortable on the larger. They're probably all more comfortable than the Curries.

Hobbyking.com has a cheap one that's colapsable And pretty cool looking.
The gas ones are hella annoying with their noise and I read the pollution out of them is something like 30 times as bad as an suv with the oil mixture
If u search on here there also some posted ethanol or butane scooters which are much much cleaner but still obnoxiously loud.

The German site translated to English: LINK!
That scooter is Lead Acid batteries, hence the cheap price. Also looks just like the standard Chinese made clone.
