I bought one 48v x 20A 12 months ago, the bare bones rectangular one in the blue wrap.
I have found it to be a faultless battery for the money. Mine has 60A connectors but I see they have upgraded to the 90A and use thicker wires.
I bought a new 52v x 20A that too has 90A connectors but comes with a 60A adapter. The wires are thick and also shielded. It comes with a built in fuse on the red wire between the plug and the battery that my 48V does not have.
They dont sell cases for either which is a pity, extruded ally is not made in the right size it seems.
All excessively oversized or too small.
The new batteries come with a built in BMS BT App which appears to be diabolical and never to be used.
Xiaoxiang BMS Bluetooth App. Reviews say its just spyware, and if you are lucky enough for it to connect to the battery, it can do all sorts of things based on what day it is, from bricking the battery to anything you can dream of.
Its sitting there alive, listening, but needs you to install the App to make it work.
I read the privacy notice, it says it can control the battery for safety reasons, well the BMS does that, not the CCP. via the App, it goes on in the same vein,
it collects your data and shares it via other BT devices nearby it says, for functionality and quality purposes, so its probably infecting people within range with something. Interrogating every BT device in range via your phone collecting data, a mobile snooping device. That would account for the excessive data use and lock ups people report.
It is interesting the Advertising speil mentions the BT App but does not list it, you get a little sticker with QR codes, one scan for the App.. two scan to activate.
Its so dodgy, its a bit of shame really. I will ask Elemex about it. Theres no online links between the two, its odd.
Ive messaged them before and David calls right back, the customer service and shipping are excellent I have found.
I get the range you would expect, V x A /10 = kms less 10-15% for conditions, weight, wind, road surface, speed.
I have confidence in the battery's overall quality and thats really because they are a local business. They are surely made in china but under contract I assume and they are tested here and come with a warranty and actual after sales service, so Im happy. They call you on the phone.
The case issue is the only problem, but I get it. You cant get a bare sleeve type case this size, only the full blown type with connections and bells and whistles, which makes a $500 battery closer to a grand. Then it has to be wired up, attached to a whole lotta new potential problems. Not worth the effort but an opportunity for someone surely.
