Hey folks. I have a problem with my electric motorcycle (Emmo Zone). Can you help diagnose?
1. Plugged in the charger. Loose contact where plugging in. May have shorted. The charger smoked and is no good now.
2. The lights for the motorcycle dash went on right away with no key in it and the ignition in the off position.
3. I had to throw the circuit breaker under the seat to get the power to shut off from my dash.
4. The bike does not power on nor does it work now with the key in the ignition and turned on. No horn or headlight or turn signals.

Did I fry the battery controller? Any ideas that would tell me what's "blown" on the bike so I can fix it? What do I test to give me a clue?

Any help appreciated!

Yup you damaged something that is for sure.
Do you know what voltage the battery was in when you plugged in the charger?
Do you have a digital multi meter? If so check the battery voltage, and see if its at a voltage where it would normally run.
If so then you damaged something else.
The Emmo Zone looks like a mini scooter motorcycle, how do you charge it? Is the charger on the garage floor, able to be moved around, is the charger apart of the controller. Frying the charger is no big deal, but when the scooter does not work, that is no good. Time to take body panels off and have a good look at the controller box itself, be sure the wires are easily put back in their rightful place, label them if you have to, take the controller off, and take a look and smell the controller, not the charger. Open up the controller and look for visible damage, blown components, black marks. If nothing is obvious then you need to find fuses.

What voltage is your battery pack?
Is your battery pack LiPo, Li-Ion, Lead Acid?

My battery should have been almost fully charged. 72v 30ah battery. Lead acid. The charger is a standalone charger that came with the bike. I can and will have to replace that. They cost around $60 to $100 depending on where I get it. $30 USD from China go figure. The charger is apart from the battery controller. That's burried on the bike somewhere. So you suggest I start with making sure the batteries are fine. Then have a look at the controller? Thanks as i would hope that they had a fuse in line somewhere. If not I would like to figure out where and how to put one in so I don't fry the controller or any other components next time a charger melts.

Hey I have the same issue with my son's emmo knight. Batteries were dead, plugged the charger in and the charger started smoking and quit. Now when the main breaker is on, and the key off, the dash lights are on but nothing else works. Same thing with the key on. Any help would be appreciated since I just spent $500 on new batteries and it can't be used
