... but ZIP re electric bikes? Might be nice to have a pack of their "Ultimate" cells to "super fast charge" by just swapping one spent pack for a "freshie" maybe? Yes? Anybuddy wanna propose to the Energizer company that they might "get aboard" the EBIKE TRAIN with a "standard format" pack one can "plug and play"?

Watt I wrote to Energizer...

Dear Energizer...

I note your web page for the Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ Batteries. But, notice anything missing? To quote book author/"futurist" William Gibson "The future is already here, just not evenly distributed". (New products/ideas need to start *somewhere*, then spread...)

So what has already "exploded" in use in China and in Europe (their Euro "EPACs" - Electric Pedal-Assisted `Cycles)? But is just beginning in North America? The bicycle that has an assist via an electric motor and BATTERY. Said battery is commonly an arrangement of cells in series/parallel to make up a 36V or 48V "pack".

As bicycle (and car!) manufacturers are "waking up" to what's going on with new bike products that have a battery-electric "assist", where is Energizer in all of this?

Best wishes to Energizer. Here's hoping you don't miss out on this opportunity!

Thats a 1.5 v disposable cell at premium price. ($4-$5 each on ebay)
http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Energizer%20Ultimate%20Lithium%20AA%20UK.html
data on capacity ? .3.0 Ah.
discharge performance ???.. 3A max
So a pack suitable for even a simple 48v low performance bike (10A max) would need 90+ cells @ $400+ for a single use
..

^^ ACK! But... In VOLUME, might not their prices per cell drop? It used to be that the "Big Three" were Food, Clothing and Shelter. Now, in this 21st-Century, food, clothing, shelter, and TRANSPORTATION? :)

"longest-lasting disposable"... REALLY? NOT rechargeable? (I thought "lithium"=rechargeable) [Sigh]

Sure, they will get cheaper one day.
But the fact is that currently you are better off with a "spare" pack made up of 18650 Li rechargeables, which would be cheaper , smaller, lighter,....and. reuseable !
You can get good quality 3Ahr cells for $2 each .

^^ 'Kay, so, Watts Up with Energizer? Why not get aboard the 18650 Steamroller? (Or 21700... 20700... etc? Funny word eh? "STEAMroller"...) Happy just selling batteries that ya need to replace (buy more of)?

Yeah, these are primary cell batteries. Not designed to be recharged. They're like those dangerous button batteries kids keep swallowing. I believe there is actually a small amount of metallic lithium inside them.

They've been around for a while now - quite a premium on their price, but they do last longer, I found.

These primary batteries have been around for forever. However energizer has the patent on producing these primary batteries in the US, which is why they are the only brand you see here making primary lithium AA's, AAA's and 9v's. In other countries, lithium primary batteries are made by several other companies. This is the only type of battery I would use in emergency backup devices. Like in a flashlight or something that I want to store and know it will still work in 5-10 years time. No risk of leakage like Alkaline cells, and significantly longer runtime at moderate current drains. They are very expensive at $10 per 4 pack usually. In bulk maybe as low as $1.5 a cell, still pretty outrageous for a AA disposable battery.

Lithium Thionyl Chloride AA's blow those lithium Energizers into the weeds for energy density: 2.4Ah @ 3.6V (>700Wh/kg). >10 year self life (some sources claim 25 years). Limited discharge capability though.

??> 700Wh/kg. ?.... Is that a rechargeable cell ?
Who makes them ?
EDIT:-...
Ok , found them !.. Primary cell, non rechargeable.
200mA max discharge
.....High cost and safety concerns limit use in civilian applications. Can explode when shorted. Underwriters Laboratories require trained technician for replacement of these batteries. Hazardous waste, Class 9 Hazmat shipment.[11] Not used for consumer or general-purpose batteries.....

Hey, those batteries would be perfect for powering this electric car:

So. It's agreed. That Energizer Holdings, Inc. (of St. Louis, MO, USA) needs to "get with the program" and reformulate their "Ultimate" Lithium cells as RECHARGEABLE. Maybe rename as the Super-Duper Ultimate Lithium Cells or something. Maybe make the leap to selling "bike-sized" packs of cells to bump up their volts and Amp-hours (and C Rates too?).

Thanks all.
L

If they're rechargeable, they wouldn't sell as many of them, so why would they do that? ;)

Remember the rules of acquisition, which any good profit-mongering corporation strives to follow.

Besides--anything labelled as rechargeable implies it will run out of power. What would the Bunny think of that? It couldn't just keep going, and going, and going.... ;P
