This is an example of how regulation saved, nay made and industry.

I've held the belief that had ebikes entered the market when china wasn't the main source of manufacturing we'd have had a huge uptake, but the evolution has been stifled greatly by the lack of innovation/RND.

Then again china is the largest ebike market, but crappy SLA mopeds with pedals aren't the future.

The pedelec standard has enabled most of what you see, I'm just glad to see companies like Bosch going at it.

Nothing beats German (over)engineering.

Thanks Miles! That Euro-advocacy group seems like eventually it might get some traction and better bikes and facilities might be developed, especially separate bike lanes. Our mayor in Fairhope simply painted lanes on many of the main streets, thus narrowing the road for drivers and making them much more dangerous.It is "traffic calming" at it's worst. Ain't politics wonderful. He just got re-elected. Oh yeah, he painted bicycle symbols in the middle of these streets too. Now the motorist knows who to aim for!
