Anyone here has experienced with the above IZip? Is it reliable? Is there any reason why it should be avoided?

This is a true European pedelec (no pedal, no power). It does not have a throttle and it runs on 24V. The only difference from European ebikes is the 20mph support (vs 25kph). I have always wanted to try something like this to see how efficient it is. But I'm concerned about its reliability and its workmanship. So if you have experience with it, please share asap.

What ever you decide I would get an estimate of a replacement battery pack for it. I'll bet they will charge more then half the price of the bike for a replacement pack. Of course you could always creat your own replacement pack and but it likely will never look the same.

About three years ago, I ran into a guy with that bike, or very similar one. Rear gearhubmotor, battery in the frame. He really liked it, particularly the battery enclosure. I just thought it was slow and short range. perfect for his needs, a 4 mile ride to a bus stop. Then the bike light enough to easily put on the bus rack. My bike with more speed and range was a bear to put on the rack.

It's definitely slow by ES's standard. But that's given. It has to comply with US federal law. At 20mph, it's actually an improvement from the previous Curries' standard of 15.6 (25kph).

But I think (I hope) the range will be very good. The battery is 24V - 10Ah or 240Wh. And the claimed range is 24 to 30 miles which works out to 8wh/mi to 10wh/mi. Those number correspond very well my own numbers on a 350W front geared hubs. Plus I would really like to investigate/learn about their TMM (Torque Measurement Method) system.

Anyway, I just came back from looking at the bike. I didn't buy it. The condition was below my expectation and that made the asking price too high. But I'm still looking. So anyone with experience with this model please chime in.

Hey sam what do you think of this used bike?

thinking about buying it to experiment with. good price at $250?

That's basically the same as the Trekking Enlightened I looked at with one exception: The Urban Cruiser has a top speed of 25kph (Europe), the Trekking Enlightened 20mph (USA).

$250 sounds like a steal to me.
