I am like the wind:
An electric horseman, fast.
Have a nice day too!

(apologies kf - post edited for pg-13)

RC and hubs fight
In a war that can't be won
Aren't we e-brothers?

See the peak ahead:
What joy it is to ascend!
…and now the downhill

Quarter for a charge?
Boundless miles lay before me.
Appreciated!

Out across the countryside
Into walls of rain I ride
It stings my face, this burns my knees
But I am doing what I please

Haiku/Poetry Rules:
Haiku is explained well-enough here. Essentially, it is a simple statement of 17 syllables arranged in lines as 5-7-5. Haiku typically has a point/counter-point or statement followed by irony; usually two related subjects. It is the challenge of conciseness and brevity illustrating imagery that I like.

The title of this thread was modified to include other original poetry; wouldn’t want to exhaust all the potential creativity! All I ask is that we keep it clean: Let’s not let this wind up in the Biker Bar, know what I mean

Have fun! KF

My motor goes ‘round...
Happy it does not make smog;
I plug in nightly.

One LiPo to Me,
Can recharge countlessly more
Than one gallon gas.

Click, on.
Twist, go.
Eyes water.
Lumpy pants.

People are in cars…
Sitting, idling, anxious.
I ride past freely

Simple math does say:
Change two to EV each year,
Soon we all gas free!

"Timba, his arms wide"
We can live in harmony!
Darmok, and Jalad...

Traffic Warnings, 17 Syllables a Sign

By MICHAEL M. GRYNBAUM

James Estrin/The New York TimesSafety-warning poems / sprouting from city sign poles / look for one near you.

Look! It’s a street sign
with a haiku underneath.
They are new, Tuesday.

The city says they
are an eye-catching way to
encourage safety.

You will find 12 signs
that are designed by John Morse,
artist and poet.

Want an example?
Imagine a bike, askew.
The caption below:

A sudden car door,
Cyclist’s story rewritten.
Fractured narrative

At crash-prone crosswalks,
200 will be installed.
(Some are in Spanish.)

“A lot of our signs
are largely ubiquitous,”
said J. Sadik-Khan.

“We look for new ways
to get through to the public,”
she said on Tuesday.

Look for them on poles
from Queens to Staten Island.
Twelve sites in total.

Want one? You can buy
a sign for personal use.
Sixty-five bucks each.

And if you would like,
submit your own sign below.
We’ll post the best here.

(πr²) …um, wait…
pi are not square; pie are round!
an' cornbread are square.

T’was the night before...
When all was snowy & white
The glittering stars

Brightly in the sky
Brought cosmos and earth as one
Together again.

Glad tidings from friends
Many of whom had ridden
Furlongs to get here.

And so it was, here:
These kindred folks with their bikes
And motors and gear

With EV smiles wide
Did share in celebration
One thought, one great gift

One human compact
In fellowship with the world
That all could be free

From the burden of
Hydrocarbon dependence
Finally at last!

We hoisted our mugs
And toasted our achievements
Over our last year:

Top distance per charge,
Fastest-mile electric bike,
Bad’est torque monster,

Highest flying plane,
Knarliest hillclimbing beast,
Deepest submarine!

And yet we forget
The best electric machine
Is the one that flies

Over our blue globe
Using just solar panels
Was built by the world

For all humankind
Advancing on our knowledge
With great benefit

For all the creatures
Great & small, bright & sublime
For the greater good!

Thus, for my own part
I have but one hope and wish
To share with my friends:

Gathered here we are,
On the verge of redemption
That technology

Absolutely can
Save our miserable souls
From our greedy selves,

If only we would
Invest in the energy
of self-reliance.

Why buy when you can
Make it for yourself and share
With those less gifted.

We are one blue sphere,
Spinning endlessly around:
Let’s work together!

With Happy tidings
Again from one wee KF
Transmitting to this:

Public Channel-One,
From hidden urban bat cave
Saucer in the hill.
