Hi All,

I've been putting together a KMX trike for the last few weeks in my spare time at work to try and show what can be achieved with "off the shelf products" and in particular show case the Falco e-motor range.

By "off the shelf products" I am referring to drive components that don't require any modification by the end users. So no re-wound, ventilated or modified motors. Batteries that come strait from the manufacturers ready to use other than connectors for the controller and at more user friendly voltages i.e 36/48v. None of these hobby king home build packs running 72v+ etc. Also controllers that don't have to be modified to feed high output performance.

The aim is simple: build a vehicle to go as fast as possible with standard components that anyone can purchase and without the need to void your warranty to do it!

My chassis will be an old school KMX Kart. It's a chassis that was acquired 4 years ago and has been neglected ever since :-(

My motor at this stage will be a Falco HXM 750. Integrated controller, throttle operated, with wireless console. Built into a 24" rear wheel.

My power supply will be an AllCell 48v 20ah pack.

I will be monitoring and collecting data via a stand-alone Cycle Analyst V2.

I did a no-load test with both 36v and 48v batteries on the 750w motor which can be seen here: http://youtu.be/Qo_zotTo9pE

This made me want to find out what was actually achievable with the 750w platform as I'm easily able to cruise up to and past the 30mph barrier with the 250w platform @ 36v.

Anyway here's where the beast is up to so far and will keep the thread updated as the build is finished. Ideally I want to be on the road with her by the time I get to the Christmas break as I need something to keep me occupied!

More videos and pics to come, lets get it on!

Awesome can't wait to see your results, I'll post some by the end of this week also on my Falco HX750 e-bike =), just found out it only supports 7 gears though and my bike has 8 gears in the back so I think I'm going to just convert to single speed.

Awesome! That's great, I look forward to seeing your machine!

What frame are you putting the motor into? If you don't mind doing it, you can fit an 8spd multi freewheel, all you have to do is stretch/open the rear dropouts by a couple of millimetres and the 8spd will fit. You may also need to make a suitable spacer for the axel to accomodate the longer freewheel, but if you can wait until you have the motor and see what you think! Deffinately worth having the gears if you want to keep up with the motor and get involved with the riding!
