Heya all!! Started this project around the beginning of the year, and have made enough progress to post it up on the forum.

Heres some stats:

Airframe: Belite Ultracub
Motor: salvage Zero 75-5 IPM
Battery: Farasis 29AH 28S4P pack
Controller salvage sevcon Gen4 Size 4
Bms: None
Charger: Meanwell RSP2000 x2

This guy will be called Mk.5!

Great project--can't wait to see it flying. What's the kV of that motor and what is the gear reduction? What size prop are you planning on spinning?

I am going to be embarking on a similar project with high school students. Starting in September we will be fabricating the EMG-6 (https://electricmotorglider.com/) with electric drive. Have not decided on the motor/prop as of yet but would like to do direct drive (no reduction). Here is another UL that used the Zero motor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eYIfGGk2yg&t=204s).

I forget the motors Kv, But max speed is 6000 RPM and max power somewhere around 3300 RPM.

I plan on spinning a 62-66" two blade Powerfin "B" blade around 2850-3100 RPM. Current gear ratio is 30/65
 
A gen4. 5 will be a nice performance upgrade path for even shorter takeoffs assuming the airframe is up to it.

That bird with a couple linear actuators on the stick would make a fine 1:1 RC model.

The pack is 29Ah per cell with 4 in paralell for a roughly 12kwhr pack. Pack weight will be right at 67KGs

I was thinking the same thing. It could carry a nice payload.
 
This reminds me of my radio controlled model airplanes. Was really into those before I was old enough to have a car, 12 to 15 years old? I am 56 now. Was better at building then flying. Crashed every plane. I still have the planes in my attic. Balsa wood, plastic covering that ya heat and shrink with a little iron, gas engines, servos, music wire. I liked flying the glider the best. Long rubber tubing to launch it.

Remember one plane. No throttle control? Had a experienced pilot fly it for me. Plane had a problem and kept flying higher and higher. Eventually the experienced pilot was able to get the plane to come down and land.

How is your weight budget looking? Far 103 is pretty strict with that 254 lb limit.

Looks like it will have tons of power. Belite makes neat little planes.
