ok thanks Richard, but indeed a little too late ....

Anyway, I received the risers in the post last week but dissapointing that they are as hard as my current risers ....

So checked in the garage and there I discovered some 10mm rubber blocks which are a little flexible, so definately softer than the new ones.
Checked them out and it would be a tight fit but hey let's try. Drilled some holes with the original riser as template and mounted them. Looks very ugly though, but if it works I might get some more of this ...

Furthermore I changed the bushings from black(99A) back to the orange (Caliber originals) and tested them which also gave a softer ride, but on higher speeds more instable, especially on small gradual bumps.
So, now I changed back to a mix of blue (94A) on the bottom and the original orange on top. Hopefully I can test it this week (wish the rain would stop...). Maybe I'm getting a pro-boarde once :wink:

Last week I did a testride with the new rubber risers and the softer bushings and what can I say : what a world of difference does this make !! Rougher surface roads are much smoother to ride and I don't get that numb feeling after pour tarmac.
So it's an improvement.

The lower orange bushing however makes the steering a bit to easy which means the board gets unstable during higher speeds. So I've replaced them with black ones, let's see ....

Furthermore I've programmed the fail safe on the transmitter by pushing twice on the bind button and voila, it works flawlessly !

during my ride to the office I could test the bushings : blue at the top and black at the bottom, which appear to be the perfect combination of damping and steering. The board is very stable under higher speeds, so no nervous wobbling when I drove off the bridge !

The next thing I want to try is using a bike computer so I can keep up the kilometers that I have driven, average/topspeed and nice to see how everything holds up versus the driven kilometers ....
I have one sigma sport BC1200 + inline speed adapter that I used on my inline skates for some time. It has a handy pick-up sensor that is mounted onto the wheelbrace, while pushing a small round magnet inside one wheel. The only downside is that it's not wireless ....
So I will also check if anything wireless is available. Any idea's are welcome ...

I had a similar idea since those bicycle computer can accept very small diameter when you set it at the biginning, your one seems specific to inline skate which is even better but then I gave up since a smartphone GPS gives good enought measurements..

I also did some tests with some kind of sport-running android app , but everytime I go for a ride, I have to activate the app, while I want to use a "lazy-mens-method" of summing my riding distance over time ... :wink:

That would be a great idea if I could transfer it to speed, but I have checked it and it's not possible unfortunately

I don't know if your "sigma sport" speedometer could really not be connected to this "brushless motor RPM sensor",
of course when setting the diameter in your speedo, you would need to set "wheel diameter/transmission ratio" as "diameter"... just a thought

This brushless sensor will read only the signal from the ESC or a signal originated from the motor?
I mean if it read a signal from the ESC when we would a neutral signal (coasting) would be a signal? I think not. But if the signal come from the motor should be every time the motors turn, since the ESC should be "calibrate" for next signal. If it is so with an arduino should be "easy" to have a usefull signal.

Make sense to you? :?

BTW has anyone idea where the signal come from?

The signal comes from the ESC of course, that one produces the pulses that makes the motor turn.

Anyway, I could get the hands on a long rubber strip of 10mm thickness ! So I could replace the current pieces of rubber that acts as spacers/dampers.
Cutting the pieces with a metal saw, gave the best result. Then used the current plastic spacer as a “drill-mold” in order to properly align the holes. Finally used a another kind of saw to make a round hole in the middle. Refitted the new one piece spacers again. Looks much better now !

to be honest, I have no idea ! It does contain some fibre in the centre.
I bought it cheap for 10U$ at a special hardware store ... anyway it does a good job for me

Haven't built my board yet but from the looks of it, even at 83mm wheels and risers the clearance of the esc (even the 6s battery) looks to be about 1 inch Just saying this because I'm about to make a commit to a board (already have the 180 trucks & 90mm wheels & mount), and it has a small amount of drop, maybe even more due to the 40+" length . In which case, I'll go for backup choice, which has no drop and is shorter.

Great video, that controller does look a LOT better than the HK GT2.
Always dangerous when crossing dogs in the park, some don't bother and some try to eat your motors...

thx for the credits. At the 50 seconds I was riding in an industrial area, which has very smooth tarmac and is very quiet during the weekends. Shooting video was done with a Sony DSC-HX5 compact camera in HD, of which quality is quite good (although not really visible on youtube. It has anti-vibration built-in so is in fact quite nice.
Creating a video is quite time consuming but nice to do on a rainy day ....

Riding in a crowded parc always requires extra attention to dogs and kids running around

I’ve measured ground clearance of the electronics :
battery : 4 cm
electronics box : 6 cm
motor : 4 cm

In practice the clearance appears more than enough FOR ME. I can easily drive across speedbumps as well (of which we have too many here in The Netherlands)
Also please remember that I have 10mm ‘spacers’ between truck-base and the board.

It shoots video in a surprising good quality (1080p – 30fps) which is comparable to Gopro original (1080p – 60fps) for 1/3 of the price. So with this one I will shoot some new video from my board.

It shoots video in a surprising good quality (1080p – 30fps) which is comparable to Gopro original (1080p – 60fps) for 1/3 of the price. So with this one I will shoot some new video from my board.

Nice build and awesome vids! Do you always ride with helmet? I am trying to decide whether I want one or not. I ride slow at 12mph, but even falling at that speed can be dangerous. I fear the helmet will be uncomfortable and will look akward (an adult going by very slow while wearing full protection gear )

I always wear gloves (that cover the whole finger) on my bikes. Helmet has been optional since it started to warm up, but winter & rain it was on my noggin'. I plan to keep the same mentality to the skateboard. I have regular leather gloves used as protection and something to keep grit from grinding my skin as I'm carving turns and touching pavement (ala surfing a cutback). I also have kneepads and slide gloves for downhilling at speeds above 20 mph. It's been years since I've bailed at those speeds unprotected and my knees still have the ghost scars.

For a skateboard, helmet & gloves & kneepads are required IMO.

@mr yeti, thanx for posting your bottom clearance. That helps a ton with my choices.

I guess the 1/2 lower "Frame Per Second" leads to a "1/3" lower price,
60FPS is good to have for slow motion and image extraction, but if you ride slow... 30FPS is fine...

ha ha , indeed. I do not drive fast ... so perfectly for me :wink:

Despite this I'm always wearing helmets. When I'm riding down the bridge speeds can go up significantly. Beside that, an accident can happen very quickly unexpected on any road or a park. When you least expect it, so it least the brains are protected.
It's not uncomfortable, it's a matter of getting used to it.
During mountainbiking and snowboarding I'm wearing helmet as well. And I don't care what other people think of it , it's for saving MY brains ....

Yeah! I got bit at one of our big parks by a greyhound that was on leash. Drew blood and induced a nasty fall which induced more blood. "NoooooBody makes me bleed my own blood!"
