Update! I got a 2015? surly ice cream truck through a person my local bike shop has known for a very long time
I mostly have been treating it like it's a golden feather though because I know I need a stronger set of wheels, although these were able to hold up for a mile-ish on flat roads.
I just got around to getting surly sunset handle bars, it's not specifically bmx, but it carries that style and should have the same durability (made of crormoly steel)
I dunno if I can find bmx cranks for this one, the bottom bracket is absolutely massive (100mm? maybe more) and the cranks are huge pieces of aluminium. Idk if I need to replace these or not
I'm working on getting my grin max45 motor and getting a bmx/steel handlebar stem that has the same rise and angle as the aluminium one does.
I will probably need a handbuilt rear rack or something to still be able to get groceries (amberwolf, if you have time, I don't mind paying you to build one and ship it back and forth). I'll probably get a front basket as well
I also now think I could try other bikes (in terms of positioning and very lightly using them) too as long as I could get them on flat roads with avoidable bumps
A trike might be in the cards for waaaaaaay later on, I will definitely refer back to amberwolf's previous posts and everyone's trike recommendations because they are very interesting and have a lot of information I might be able to use if I want a trike later on!!!
This bike has:
2x9 shimano slx drivetrain w/ deore thumb shifters (it came with it, I will fafo with it, and if I wear it out extremely fast like chalo was saying, or if I get pissed off by it breaking a lot, I will swap it to a 2x8. i think it'll be okay though)
Surly OD 180mm cranks, with the front deraileur's highest gear being 36T (I don't know the lowest). it also has sunringle pedals
Serfas seat, unbranded seatpost and handlebar stem that I pretty much need to replace ASAP
It had a salsa cycles bend handlebar on it, I replaced it with a surly sunrise bar and the cycling position works 97% perfectly now. the new bars are extremely wide though, and that's really the only serious downside
The rear dropout system might be something called MDS? I dunno, but it's through axle for sure, the bike shop measured it at 190mm (I have a picture of one of the sides) and I think grin's 197mm through axle adapter will fit?
Avid mechanical brakes, 180mm in the front, 160mm on the back.
The biggest thing will be getting the rear motor set up and then I will be using it a whole lot more
(sorry the pictures aren't great yet, but it's what I got for now)
