I dissasembled a battery from a Ford Escape. It has 50 battery packs of 5 cells each. Is there a charger that is commercially available that will allow me to charge five cells at a time (in the configuration in which they come)? Also, there is a green plastic over that keeps each of the 5 cells connected. What is the best way to remove this green covering - and to separate the five cells in each pack from each other?

This is my first time project and don't know much about all this. I'm trying to make an electric bicycle. If anybody can advice me over this idea I would appreciate it.

Thanks

a 6 cell stick is only 6 volts on those Nimh packs, so most of the Hobby RC chargers will have a setting for that.
Separating the cells may be tricky,. i suspect they will have welded tabs between them.
Can you keep them a 6 cell sticks and build around that config ?
It wont be the lightest bike pack ever made !

Astroflight still has a charger that will do 40S NiMh at a reasonable price.
