the Nissan Leaf, which will appear in test fleets later in 2010, but won't see retail availability until a year or so after the Focus Electric.

mabye im a bit jaded but it seems the title says all "Ford Focus Electric could be " , beleive "thier" electric car when i see it!!!

still it looks closer than any thing else ???

I thought about converting a focus, since my wife loves em, and we now own two of em. But quickly changed my mind after realizing the focus weighs 3500 pounds. 2000 pounds is more like it for a conversion to electric. Even 2500, isn't too bad, but 3500 is way too heavy. No wonder it doesn't have the crappy ride quality of a 2000 pound car.

As an above poster noted, I'll believe that it's the first production EV out when I see it out on the roads and in dealerships. Until then it's a battle of vaporware, with Tesla the only winner thus far.

I really do love the artistic color scheme in the above picture!! Unfortunatly in practice paint is toxic and undesirable IMO I would prefer a bare metal finish. as far as the "varporware ev's" I think somebody here better start mass producing a kit or conversion, "the ESphere" vehicle? with bolt on hub motors on each wheel, large cellmon packs (leased), celllog100s, stacked MW chargers. regen stevo 100 fet controllers. Strap it on a current platform. I think this is closer to reality than a production EV from bigwhoever. Prove me wrong.......
