I like front hub motors on mountain bikes for touring. Got a sweet old Jamis Dakota with 1 1/8" threadless shock fork which I trashed. Been shopping all over for a rigid chromoly fork, v-brake capable with braze ons for front rack and am getting nothing. Anyone know where to get them.

Doesn't Surly make one? Not totally sure it has the rack braze-ons, though.

$50

and some p-clamps from your local hardware or marine store where you need brazeons

Looks to me like the nashbar fork has the eylets. It doesn't say it's suspension correct length. The surly fork is extra long to keep frame geometry right when using a hard fork to replace a shock fork. Wouldn't matter if the shock fork had 40mm travel, would if it had 140.

Thanks to all for the leads. The Nashbar fork has eyelets to the rear of the dropout which are great for fenders, not really designed for front rack [especially rack that is carrying heavy weight]. Have made such "rear of dropout" eyelets work in past but it is not best practice.

The long haul Surly rack has the right braze ons and may be the ticket. Would like it a lot more if it did not taper. Using a high torque motor we want to clamp onto larger diameter but can build shim out of an old beer can [or soft drink] to bulk it up :)

Any last thoughts B4 we get Surly :?:
