As for rent, mortgages, bills, etc... I honestly believe that the governments of the world need to demand that we "put a pin in it". All of it. Effective immediately we press pause on the collection of all debts both public and private. We press pause on the accruement of debt, period, for the foreseeable future. If you currently have a service, it stays on, with no increase to your existing bill for the paused period, until we pull that pin on the first of whatever month it is we can do so and the meter starts ticking again. Same for rents and mortgages.
The government can do what it needs to do to keep the lights on and the water, food, and medical care flowing. Literally f the bill. It's of little consequence, or at least it shouldn't be.
We all need to be secure knowing that we're going to come out of this with a roof over our heads, not potentially homeless and sidled with more debt than we could ever hope to repay.
Or else.
