Hi folks, I've had a look around the forum and seen some related material to what i'm looking for.. but not quite..

Me and a friend have an 8 speed freehub and cassette on a 250W hub motor from Saili Motor that we need to change for a smaller freehub and 6 or 7 speed cassette, this is to get the width down to fit between the dropouts.

I have removed the freehub:

Bearing exist on both sides:

Does anyone know the next step? I'm thinking get a puller to separate the freehub body from the bearings and inner thread, then fit a new freehub body.. Or do I just buy another unit complete ready to screw into the hub motor?

Bests.

Daniel

I don't know that you'll be able to find any other size freehub body for that hub motor. It's a proprietary part that might only come in the 8/9/10 speed version you already have. Have you contacted the manufacturer or vendor to see if any other sizes are available?

Vendor says it's a standard size.

Because of the chunky axle standard freehubs can't be used.

I think this would involve a hydraulic press to move the bearing components over to a 7 speed freehub shell, which is much more faffery than i'm prepared for :/

The spline is a standard size. The freehub body itself is proprietary. I highly doubt it comes in a shorter version for 7 speeds.

I remove freehub bodies from hubs rather often, and I've never seen one with a threaded interface to the hub shell. Almost all of them use a short spline on the hub end, and attach with a hollow bolt through the center.
