Fried charge Connector and dead controller?

E bike Battery Charge Port Fried???? Is this normal....

What happened was while the 48v 20ah battery was plugged into the controller, the charge plug touched the controller's aluminum housing directly, and then black smoke and the burnt plug remains.....

Battery Seems Ok: tested with multi-meter.... 54 volts
Controller: Does not turn on: bike does not work:

When i plug the battery into the controller, and turn on the throttle switch, the throttle led glows up and then dies, as if the capacitors are drained... The led indicator shows a faint yellow instead of the 3 blue bars as its 54v, and then the yellow dies out in 2 seconds into black...Then it does not turn on at all.... The lcd screen is dead and the motor wont run and all that...

What should i do???? I dont think the whole controller is dead... Is the lcd screen throttle assembly dead? The battery charge port just shorted against the controller case.... What is going on here...
Also can someone give me a link to that charge port or say what it is. I dont know what they are called and will need to solder up a replacement...

Buy a new controller, you should always have spares of everything.

I dont think the whole controller is dead...
Most very well is toast, you touched the battery to the controller housing, which is ground so you applied full voltage to the ground

Yup, probably if it was connected tot he controller then you applied full battery voltage to the ground of the controller and the display. Open it all up and see, but its not worth it.


The battery charge port just shorted against the controller case....
Not good, you fried it all! Except the motor.

What is going on here...
You fried your controller, time to buy a new controller and display.


Also can someone give me a link to that charge port or say what it is. I dont know what they are called and will need to solder up a replacement...
Have no idea what controller and have no idea what charger you have

does this happen to other ppl. seems like a safety hazard... i thought the charge ports would have better design... like an outer lip to protect the metal from shorting stuff. also it seems weird that the controller died. it has to deal with 48v to ground anways so whats the difference here. plus it was the caseing/aluminum housing.... not the board

It looks like the controller housing closed the gap between the chargers hot center pin and it's negative ring and you did a bit of welding. Apparantly the controller didn't appreciate having 50 someodd volts applied to it's ground.

You probably should have been connecting the charger to the battery first before plugging it in. For next time anyway. Maybe find some better connectors too so this can't happen again as easily as well.

My controller is JUST FINE....

Actually what happened is the e-bike throttle cable was lose.... Which was why it was showing up orange and the indicator dying out...
And which is why the controller and motor would not turn on....
Good think for Intuition. I refused to think this controller was dead!!!!! Too bad i took it apart though, and tested the mosfets, which all passed and now will have to put it back together...
I just tightened up all the cables and the thing turns on and works!!!!!!!!!!!1
