When I think of logging I think of beutifull logs that can be used to make all sorts of items and artworks.

So sorry for you data freak guys and girls, this is not about data logging but about real logs.... !!!!

I had this beutifull piece of European walnut laying around in my workshed that was not completely drie yet, but good enough to shape in any form. So I thought why not make the best green transportation oriented analyser (the cycle analyst) a bit greaner by making a new casing around it from organic (scrap wood).

Well to make this a short story, I started doing just that.

This is the start, with some scrap peaces of log to create the perfect atmosphere.

I got my chainsaw and made a small CA sized piece of wood that I made square with my saw table. After that I used my router to hollow the piece of wood out. Then adjusted the router 3mm deeper for a real glass screen. And these are the results so far.

The casing is still in the form of a rough cut (could call it a blank) but the shape and forms are there. Next step will be drilling some holes to position the switch and wires and sand it down as smooth as baby bottums.

After that make it nice and shiny with some woodoil wax or lacker.

I will keep you guys posted.

You got my hopes up! I was expecting lots of fun graphs and spreadsheets to read. But then I think this is ultimately way more awesome. Can't wait to see finished pics!

Last couple of days I tried to finish this little project.

I sanded down the log case and inserted a glass window that I glued in with epoxy resin.

I finished the wood with some woodoil (pure natural and no additives tung oil) to get the grain showing and to get it waterproof.

The back cover is screwed on with some realy nice old fasioned brass screws.....

Then I had to build in the cycle analyst.

I decided to alter some functions and have 2 switches to choose either economic Cycle analyst current limmiting mode and a preset speed reduction mode with the help of a preset potentiometer.
For this I used this schematic. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15528&hilit=cops#p230476

The wiring is done through some 8 pole waterproof connectors so I can take the case of my bike if needed.

Jerry,

When again will my poplar guitar body with routing for a pair of humbuckers be ready again? JK

Nice work bro.

Nice cover. The wood makes the cycle analyst less imposing looking.

very nice work! so classy, now all you need is a bamboo bike frame to complete the look.
