George W. Bush in the Market for a New Mountain Bike

Yeah a map showing a 49 state landslide is just silly because it clearly illustrates what a loser Walter Mondale was. Which doesn't really fit the template of Republicans cause economic hell does it? I can see why you would think it's silly. For my next trick I'd like to pull a REAL president out of my hat.

Sure is nice that you prove my point for me. You wouldn't change you mind even if it's for your own good. Anyway I am done with this. I part in peace.

Evoforce,

"There you go again." spouting off like a typical liberal this nonsense about the Reagan era being so bad, because if you repeat it enough times someone will believe it. Do you really forget the misery index caused directly by Carter's failed economic policies. Did you miss how the Reagan administration's economic policies directly turned that mess around? From the sound of it there was some small facet that directly impacted your business in a negative way, and I'm sorry for that, but not every solution is necessarily a perfect fit for everyone. In those cases you simply have to adapt and survive, not whine and cry.

How can you possibly be pro big government and all the inherent waste and efficiency that comes directly with it? How can you want to rely on the government to take care of you? These are the direct and unavoidable results of implementing liberal principles that individually often seem like right and compassionate ideals, but whose real world results of tax and spent simply don't work. I'm not saying there aren't major problems with the other side, but those problems are more easily cured because they aren't the direct result of misguided principles. They're more like the cancerous side effects of the government in its current form.

Yeah, the "Party of No" sure knows how to reign in costs.

Invasion and occupation of Iraq.
Invasion and occupation of Afganistan.

Bushs' wars. For oil, not WMDs.

Go ask Pat Tillman what he was fighting for... Whoops, dead.

You suckers keep feeding your children to the wealthy who will make you slaves.

Its funny how a thread about GWB getting a bike turned into a partisan brawl...

They are all idiots that like to hear themselves talk, some more than others. As for worst president, that woud go to Franklin "Dough Face" Pierce - D. Didn't have the balls to confront the South and would have rather had two countries. Next is Woodrow Wilson - D. He thought it would be a good idea to kick all the black republicans out of the White House and create a segragated country. He also instituted the Federal Reserve, which Thomas Jefferson -D had strongly opposed as he knew it would consolidate too much financial power within a small group. Next up we have FDR - D. He created the largest ponzi scheme know to man, SS.

Now as for our best president, that would be Lincoln, who happens to be the first Republican president. Then there was of course Washington and Jefferson. Kennedy was pretty good. Maybe I'm biased, because I don't like terrorists bombing my home(I was within a mile of the Pentagon when the plane hit), but I thought Bush was an incredible president. He was in full view for the entire 9/11 ordeal. Not only that, he made many personal sacrifices such as giving up golf and various other indulgences, as an act of contrition for the folks defending our freedom. And all 8 years of war, still cost less than the ARRA, which has definately not done anything for this country, but put us further in debt. Plus, I lost my brother-in-law, Jeffrey Phelps, in 1987 when Iraq bombed the USS Stark for no reason. That was enough excuse to attack Iraq in my mind.

Now as for the current financial situation, I blame Carter for the Reinvestment Act, I blame Clinton for threatening to sue banks if they did not give loans to people who could not repay them and I blame the Democratic Congress, since 2007, for not reigning in these crazy policies. Obama was innocent up until the ARRA and Healthcare Act. We'll have to see where that leads us...

I just hope that an Independent movement takes hold in our country, as partisan bickering is getting us nowhere. I also wish that the government would stay out of everything except National Defense and Court Services. Everything else is a priviledge, not a right. If I do not encroach on anyone's liberty, I do not want them encroaching on mine.

Vote out all RepubliCan'ts and DemonCraps this coming November!

TD,

We can absolutely agree that war is a shameful waste in lots of ways, but that doesn't change the fact that the economics of liberal policy simply doesn't work. Conservatives don't have a monopoly on war anyway, since it was Kennedy and Johnson that got us into the last big one for even less reason than trying to get a strong foothold in the middle east when oil will soon run out.

i think the prez has a couple of ebikes
has he ever ridden them :?:
maybe he could send them to crawford
i`ll bet bush would take it for a spin

+1^^^^ Exactly, I know I come across as a die hard Republican on here, but there are MANY Republicans I wish would just go away. And as far as that party of no crap TD, you better believe it! I want them to be the party of HELL NO for what Obama is trying to do to this country. And TD, when Bush was spending like crazy, conservatives (like me) and liberals (like you) were yelling bloody murder, but somehow now that Obama is spending more money than Bush ever though about spending it seems like we have lost half the choir.....I wonder why that is?

Whether the gentle readers here lean towards any particular political party, I highly recommend you sample the amusing perspective of P. J. O'Rourke in his study of the history of american politics entitled...

Beyond a doubt, worst president ever. The people wanted a change, and I understood and agreed that change was needed, but this is so badly the wrong change it's become comical. Pelosi, Reed and their mouthpiece...what a joke....We just thought slick Willy was smooth, but this silvery tongued devil takes the cake with the terrible triad screwing things up so badly, so quickly.

They even starting the process during the election itself. A recession was unavoidable due to the crazy oil prices in the first part of '08. Then came the staged timing of the sub-prime mortgage "crisis" that resulted directly from programs started by the Dems.

Still that wasn't enough to create the current and continuing problems. Only changing the perception of how things are to the general public can do that. That's where the fear mongering drummed up by Obama and crew kicked in and scared people by telling people things were so bad, when they weren't really so bad at the time, which started during the election. High oil prices hadn't impacted inflation very much, and who cares if a bunch of rich people lost a bunch of money on paper, since that would rebound. No, the depths of the economic problems rests squarely on the current administration, and I guarantee that all they can manage is to screw things up even more.

The single best thing Bush did was months after 9/11, when people were staying at home more because they were scared. He addressed it directly and told the people essentially that was exactly the goal of the terrorists, and that recession was short lived.

Now is just the opposite. It's "the previous guys drove into a ditch", but what really happened is the car was acting up and a maniac with a bad plan ran the car off the road. Then instead of waiting for the tow truck for a simple pull out, he's hops in the driver's seat and starts spinning the tires, digging the hole deeper in the process, so deep in fact that the rain water washed the car down the gully. It's a sad story, sad but true.

Both parties are two heads of the same pig,

The Democrats have owned Congress for 3.6 YEARS so I'm sick of hearing the "Blame Bush" crap. YOU guys were there...the blood is on your hands. The Republicans came up with the idea of "stimulus" so that Socialist Keynsian idea ain't pure "Obama". He just tripled the amount of gasoline to throw on the fire. Face it, both sides are scum but there is a way to solve that problem.

On election day, I am voting against every single incumbent b@stard all the way down to dog catcher. Gee...all those new politicians won't know what to do! Ack! Here is a cool idea, do what we, the people tell you to do! If you don't, your House of Representative arse will get thrown out during the purge of 2012...rinse and repeat.

Then it is time for term limits, tort reform, scale back on massive government control and regulation--cut out the pork barrel projects and keep slashing the budget. Health care reform? Easy one! Tort reform, cut out the "patient rights" BS and let hospitals get back down to BUSINESS (that is what they are) Can you tell I worked in a hospital for 25 years?!

Keep cutting the massive Fed until it is down to what it originally was and was always meant to be: a weak central government that took care of the military, import/export duties and kept the states from killing each other. The 50 states should determine what "rights" the people have--and they can pay for that. If California wants government healthcare--they can and will pay for it with their own taxes. If Texas wants the right to have assault weapons--more power to them. If the border states want to restrict immigration through their borders---it is THEIR borders! More power to them!

The BEST way to make this country work is freedom of choice--with a weak central government and strong state governments--you have FIFTY choices! You can run the range of Libertarian to Socialist and you have the option to move to what fits you.

One of my smartest moves was living in Texas for 6 years--I can go back since "I'm Texan". If/when the country goes to hell--Texas has the option to return to it's Republic status and I would happily and proudly become a citizen of the Republic.

After living in Italy, Turkey, Korea and extended stays in many interesting countries--I find it shocking how stupid Americans actually are. Geez... at least in other countries they have Socialist Parties to correctly label what those people are. Even the small countries have waaaaay more that just two parties--and they tend to be very much alike. How two parties are supposed to accurately represent the vast differences across America...and how you would ever think they could just makes my cranium lock up in disbelief.

Throw them all out. Weak Fed and strong state governments. Tort reform/slash government regulation in everything we do. If you have a specific thing you want--choose from the 50 different states and 50 different ways they do things.

Now... where the hell are those EEStor Ultra-capacitors????!!!!
