So I had turned one of my Giant LaFree's into a full suspension bike, put some better forks on it and upped the voltage from 24 to 36.

I already new it was way fun off road, smooth ride, able to climb any hill I attempted, increased speed over rough trails... So tonight I took it off road again doing some exploring and ended up going down some pretty steep wet trails. When I came back up the trails I was expecting not to make it because they were wet and somewhat muddy, to my surprise the bike just kept pulling me up the trial. There was mud, a wash out and a turn I had to maneuver through all at once, no problem with the smooth power the motor provides, it would have been nearly impossible with only pedaling. Not sure if it being dark, with only my headlamp to provide light was a good or bad thing.

Another thing I discovered tonight was when I came to some stairs and there was no way around them, I decided to just go up them. Here I was expecting to get stuck as soon as I hit them, but it turned out to be no problem whats so ever, in fact it was fun. I rode right into them like they were not there. What I usually do when I come to a curb is pull a wheely to get the front wheel up over the curb and just let the rear follow. In this case I was just going to let the suspension and power do the work. I'm guessing the extra power (I was pedaling and hitting the throttle) made the front end lighter and the suspension did a real good job of smoothing things out. There were only three stairs, but with how easy it was, they might as well have not even been there. This will have me looking around for more difficult stairs to climb, maybe sets of 5 or 10 and if those are doable, I will be looking for sets of 20 or 30.

I tell you, these full suspension E-bikes are a blast. :D

Deron.

yea lets see a pic of that bad boy. My latest build is going to be a Giant Rincon with 100 mm travel front and a rear hub motor. Hardtail this time  so I'm going to use a thudbuster and softer seat.

They may impose a weight limit for electric bikes, but until then one of my future builds will be based on a 1974 Kawasaki KE100 with operable pedals. Talk about a comfy seat and ride!
