I'm having issues with my GoTrax GXL V2. The display will power on when it's plugged it but shuts off when unplugged. I removed the battery and poked a few things with my multimeter and I suspect it's the BMS, but I could be wrong. The +- leads on the battery that feed the BMS measure at 36v, but the +- leads that go from the BMS to motherboard/display measure at 5v. Is that normal?

Sounds like the BMS has shut off to protect the cells against damage that could potentially cause a failure.

It could just be a single cell (or group) that has failed, or several. It might be possible to repair the pack by replacing those, but it's not uncommon for the rest of them to be aging close behind.

If the pack is relatively new, then something could have come disconnected inside it, either a cell interconnect or a balance/sense wire from a cell group to the BMS.

Did it have any symptoms prior to this, or was it a sudden complete failure after operating perfectly normally since the beginning?

Is the unit new, or used?
