The Solar Decathlon closed when I went by. It's a "program that challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency."

The insides of the houses are pretty cool.

Fletcher Boathouse, lots of driftwood from hurricane floods...

^ LOL!

Brilliant video Greg so simple and watch able with great colours too  I need to start taking a detour on the way home too! its a great way to chill before the mad rush of kids and bath times and the rest of the stuff, keep em coming.

 ya look clear and healthy  .now im whislin dixie.

thanks folks! i shoulda split the decathlon stuff (yawn) from the driftwood mine field. haha.

i've been thinking about ways to get video of both wheels in the air while jumping, so tried this mount again:

worth a go. can't get both wheels. and it wobbles way too much while riding, unless i take my foot off the pedals...

or suggest some frame alterations (to a local welder)... rough idea...

it's friday, what can i say!

we had a great podcastwith HAL last night, btw. I love this line of his latest build, the Albino:
"The idea is to fill gap between DH and Motocross bikes. I would like to be as close to DH as possible. In this project I plan to have no financial restrictions nomather how long it takes."

nah ive seen this guy's bikes on another forum, hes reportedly good at what he does but im pretty sure that bike'll be cromo. I'd even ask if he could cut out the bottom downtube and install a oversized one that'll fit some batts inside! otherwise welding a few tabs to it will work too...

he's not on that page, but he's got a number of posts in that huge thread.

Hey Great vids Greg

Hope that you werent too scuffed up after the last one  if your gonna fall better that it's at such a low speed! loved the fish market view too, what setting do you shoot with on your gopro, I might change the exposure settings on mine from centre weighted to average because I find often the camera levels the exposure to the sky leaving the foreground underexposed? I know that you can change this in the camera so will have a play and see what works best.

I might try and get out and have a play on the BMX or the KMX as we are having a mental heatwave here in the UK, 30 deg! hotter than Mexico here!

Oh and here are those cracked seat tube pictures I mentioned, this comes from a combination of me having the saddle up quite high, being 200lbs and having 10lb of batteries on a beam rack, I have broken 2 seatposts as well :p we make cranes at my work so I figured that I should be in a good place to get it sorted, they are going to braise it for me on Monday, this may cost me no more than a couple of bags of doughnuts and a round of coffee for the guys! a lot cheaper than 500 bucks for a new bike though.

I used some very old and volatile paint stripper, prizing the lid off the tin of this stuff it shot in to the air and out of site! luckily I had read the back and had got safety specs on in case, I got a face full of fine droplets of the stuff! it was nasty! washed it all off in quick time and my eyes avoided a hit because I got my specs on, always read the label :p here it is post weld with the paint stripped!!

yeah, i got crax like that all over my frame. are they bad, you think :?:

i only thought they were dangerous if they were all the way through, or open a half inch or so....

just kidding. nasty business!

and yeah, that fall was nothing, but surprised me! i knew that slimy gunk on the sidewalk would be slippery, but thought i'd missed it! i wouldn't have minded if that ancient sidewalk wasn't angled way over... my finger got jammed up somehow, but the wires out the axle were fine, and the mirror was bent but no damage whatsoever. nice clip to add to the fails segment of my next highlights vid...

Hi G

The saving grace is that its a steel frame and I got good warning, dont think you would be so lucky with aluminium :? yes been enjoying all of your vids Greg, I really must get out tomorrow and shoot a little film make some good use of the weather, today my son was in the pool in the back yard it was that warm! nearly 30 deg or 86f for you guys! not bad considering xmas is only 11 weeks away

Have a great weekend!

So many vids I'm racing on Connecticut Ave. Yesterday, I scoped out the long lost Klingle Rd before the phone rang and I had to go:

i'll go back in drier conditions to try to hurt myself for your entertainment...

want to join me next time, skippic? (i might need someone to help cart me out before the sun goes down and the gangs come out... )

@Greg-

Have you used your new charger charging on full series LiPo battery at 84v? I remember you bought new charger from china while couple or few months ago. Does it cause out of balancing on aging LiPo battery, When the charger reached 84v and did the charger stop charging or just beep beep? I wanted double check with your opinion before I decide go get HRP-600 (expensive price).

When Kingfish visited in San Francisco and He charged his LiPo batteries with the Meanwell HRP-600 Series. It turned awesome when it reached where the maximum volt I.E. 83v and it automatically turn off the charger itself so it wont let overrrun 4.2~ higher.

I mean, I saw in real person and physically charger front my eye. It took him 30 mins complete charge his 130Ah of the LiPo while he traveled from Washington state to California and return Washington state.

I don't know if your cheap charger from China has similar functions HRP-600 has?

hey chroot,

how's that new nashbar frame you bought? start a thread for it?

i use two chargers:
1. my old meanwell psu and iCharger at home, in 5s8p to balance, and charge each cell to 4.16, when i've used more than 7Ah, or when i want to have that extra head charge in the morning. it's not much, but i can feel it because:

2. the portable 600W bmsbatterycharger that you're asking about is set to only charge to 82.6V, or 4.08V/cell? i am very happy with it for the following features:
- only have to manage two connections: disconnect controller then connect charger
- it charges at 5A, so easily charges my whole pack in less than 2hrs
- has a strong case, strong fan, on/off switch, green light when charged up, red or yellow when charging...
- not too big

i'm so lazy i've plugged it in and only noticed before my commute that: the switch was off (red light comes on anyway), sometimes i plug it into my controller by accident... or the power cable wasn't fully in, and the red light was on anyway (comes on when connected to the batt).

get one. tell them the voltage to set it to (i haven't found a dial to change it), as you can see i wanted to be very safe in case my cells got way out of balance, but now i think i'd rather they were higher.. since at 4.08 the cells are only 75% full? someone wrote a great table of voltage and capacity somewhere but i can't find it again.

i decided on the 600W one cause the 900 was twice as big and heavy and i never need my batts charged faster cause i usually have to be at work more than 2 hours.

one of the things i love about it is that the cap inside is so big that after i unplug it, the red light stays on for a long time...

if you order it, get ready for it to arrive in 30-45 days... haha.
