I have an E-bike that I really need to work. I have Parkinson's disease so my electric bike is the only way I can get around easily.
It is a  24V rear hub  motor  on an E-bike.
This motor is working just fine. The smaller main cog turns under power, but the clutch gearing rings won't grab onto the larger cog-gear. The motor seems to have power at the main gear, but the 5 band bearing or clutch inside the hub motor will not grab or turn the large gear.
I took the 1st outer hub gasket off to see this & the motor is clean & I re-greased the gears.
Can anyone tell me if this might be a sensor problem? If this is true,
is the sensor inside the motor?
Do you know the name of this sensor- if that is the problem?
The motor doesn't overheat & the bike is all good except for the motor's clutch prob.
As I mentioned I am handicapped & cannot afford to buy a new bike. I keep this one real clean but cannot ride it without the electric assist. Any suggestions you could give would be great.
Thanks for your help.
