Heinzmann 24v motor problem

I have an E-bike that I really need to work. I have Parkinson's disease so my electric bike is the only way I can get around easily.
It is a  24V rear hub  motor  on an E-bike.
This motor is working just fine. The smaller main cog turns under power, but the clutch gearing rings won't grab onto the larger cog-gear. The motor seems to have power at the main gear, but the 5 band bearing or clutch inside the hub motor will not grab or turn the large gear.
I took the 1st outer hub gasket off to see this & the motor is clean & I re-greased the gears.
Can anyone tell me if this might be a sensor problem? If this is true,
is the sensor inside the motor?
Do you know the name of this sensor- if that is the problem?
The motor doesn't overheat & the bike is all good except for the motor's clutch prob.
As I mentioned I am handicapped & cannot afford to buy a new bike. I keep this one real clean but cannot ride it without the electric assist. Any suggestions you could give would be great.
Thanks for your help.

Icemaker,
Welcome to the Sphere
Heinzmann`s are rumored to have two problems that can have the motor running with out the wheel going around.
One is if the small gear comes loose on the motor shaft. And the other is if the freewheel , one way clutch gives out.
If you can hear the motor run I think all the temp sensors are O K.
If something is broken in the internal gears it may be cheaper to buy another used 24 volt Heinzmann and get back to riding.

An old post with some interior pics.

Thanks ice wrench,
The smaller drive gear is solid and has lots of torque. It is the 5- ringed clutch drive I think, as all the rings turn except the inner, smallest one. Didn't see any wiring to this side, so I guess it doesn't have a sensor. Just hoping I could get the thing running somehow. My motor is as clean as the example interior pics post you showed me, thanks again. Not sure what to do now, as this is my main transport.

Hopelfully you can find a used one cheap enough. If not, then buy a rear motor kit of some kind if you can afford it, and put that on the bike. But even that is a big problem since the new motor will need 36v. So you'd have to carry a third battery on a rear rack, and charge it seperate, etc.

This link in the for sale used section might help you. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18327

Hmm, the sale thread for a 24v motor I was looking for is gone. The seller must have deleted it once he sold, or changed his mind.

Other options include a PM to Gmouchawar, who is very into heinzmann motors. He might sell a complete motor. The other is to buy the part from me. I was kinda hoarding the old motor that I fried in case my brother in law needed the clutch for his EVG. But he got a drivers licence and a car he blows into to drive now. So I doubt he's going to burn out a clutch now. Let me dig around and see if I can find it later today. I'd want about $25 plus shipping cost.

Are you located in the USA?

I'll be sending him the parts he needs today. 8)
