I'd like a better controller for my schwinn stingray electric bike. I scanned the manual and attached them.

Can I use a crystalyte controller easily (48 volt will probably run at 36 though...)?

It has a 24v (will run at 36) 20 amp controller.

Thanks...

Yes, it looks like a Crystalyte controller will work fine. You might need to mess around a bit to figure out how to match the hall and phase wires. There's a good chance that the colors won't match up the same.

Thats what I'm afraid of.... I don't want to destroy this motor. Isn't there a easier way to figure out the hall sensors without resorting to trial and error?

It seems every company assigns the letters and colors differently. I've hooked up motors that were clearly labeled A, B, and C, but it didn't work. Don't assume the markings are correct, but they would be a logical first try.

What about U V W?

U, V, W corresponds to A, B, C. Still, there seems to be a lack of consistency here.

Fetcher,
Thanks for your help...

I got the hub motor working with the kollmorgen controller. BTW the picture you posted has pinouts for clockwise running.

I had to change the two outside phase and the 1st and 3rd hall to get it back to ccw. Seems to run fine though...
