I was given a step thru fat tire ebike and I have no clue what brand or make it is and the controller box gave out on me and I have purchased several controller boxes the first two were either to big or two phase and it's a three phase 36v 500w motor, the recent box I received it had the correct connection for the motor but the accessories it didn't so I took the old box and tried to splice the wiring for it to connect correctly but the wires on the box are different then the new box I have attached a picture of the bike and the old controller, please helpIMG_20240902_192000869.jpgIMG_20240925_215511767~2.jpg

And undocumented controller and an undocumented bicycle as usual.
You'd need to be handy with a multimeter and have some electronics knowledge to figure it out.

What's good is that you have a hub motor and the wiring is standardized / well understood. That means you could buy a controller, throttle, and screen that match each other, re-use the existing brake lever ( if only 2 wires ), wire it up to your battery and hub motor, and be back on the road..

It would be a more expensive route to go but it would be a lot simpler.

Sure, but there’s better things to spend your time on. It’s a horrible contraption, sorry to say it. Really, the best course of action is to make it somebody else’s problem … take $200 for it if you can get it then invest your time and money in something worthwhile. (I don’t say this flippantly, I post primarily to share my experience of repairing things).

By controller box do you mean controller. It shouldn't be all that much of a problem to fit a new one to that bike, but you need a basic level of electrical understanding. If you don't have that -- learn, otherwise take it to somebody who knows.

How did you know it was the controller and not the battery? Anyway, if the old controller is history, you need to focus on how to get the new one working.. The old one is no longer important,

The bike's motor had a molded plug like this?

Did you buy a controller with the matching connector?

Sometimes the motor cable is connected to the controller with an extension cable like this, It terminates in three thick phase wires and 8 or 9 smaller sensor wires.

Then you controller won't have the nice molded connector. There will be some motor wires to figure out,

Share what you can about the new controller and a link to any info about its wires. That should have been in the link where you bought it,

If you have a brushless controller and battery rated same voltage, it's easy to connect a brushless hub motor. Most wires aren't needed, the controller will have 3 thicker phase wires , blue, green, yellow, as well as motor. Those thin hall wires blue, green, yellow, red, black, as well. A white wire on the controller plugs into itself momentarily to learn the configuration. Use caution and lift motor off ground before you plug the white wire together and pull it apart as quickly as you can. If motor spins backwards plug/unplug a second time.the throttle has 3 wires red, black, green. Some controllers have 2 red positive wires needing voltage. Once you're riding, read about the other wiring!
