Seems to be several types there.

This came up several ways today, but the funny one being someone asked as a joke how I was going to make my own batteries when we descended into 'Mad Max' mayhem around here. I had no answer, which surprised the guy.

Well, it DID make me curious.

Mostly when I searched what I found wasn't batteries, but battery PACKS. All suggesting that you just take the batteries from other things in an emergency. But don't those other things need their batteries?

Learn to brew acid, then pick the bullets from the bodies for the lead.

But if you still have motors after the Armageddon, then you could make a generator where you make slaves pedal to run it.
