How to build a Custom display for EBike?

Hi,

I have built an ebike with off the shelf parts and all is well. Now I would want to build my own custom display using an Arduino or ESP32 microcontroller as the brains. I have built custom PCB's with display before and hardware is something I can build easily. The display should be able to work with the cheap chinese controllers available on aliexpress so that it is easily available.

Can anyone give me heads up on where should I start, or if there are any displays already done by the community.

Developed for TSDZ2 motor by ES member casainho, maybe could be adapted to other controllers as well. casainho is also developing a DIY controller suitable for various motors and I think he uses that same display for that.
