Just thought i would share this video for any noobs like myself who might need to grind their Motor shaft like did....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4S9gxzQ39g

For Some stupid reason i did the whole length of the shaft either side !!

There is now less shaft touching the inside of my pulley so it makes it harder to get central...

Probably common knowledge for most on here, but might help someone out

he does it like I do it.
except sometimes instead of a dremel, I use a 4" right angle grinder to do the bulk cut before filing.

also, I NEVER hold the shaft (or motor) in my hand, I always have it in a vice... Hold on to the part, or the tool. Never both.

agreed! I took my motor apart, held my 4" angle grinder in the vice (don't have a bench grinder) and then held the motor/shaft to the grinder to grind it flat. Definitely prefer the 4" grinder for the bulk of removal, clean up with dremel. Doing the whole thing w/ dremel takes forever and isn't as uniform IME.

Yeah i agree....bit peed off i didn't do that first time round...but with a bit of messing about i think i can get the pulley central

Its All part of the learning curve i suppose!

I completely killed my first motor when i went to put the keyway in and fubared the whole thing. Motor/gear - dead. Got in a rush and just half-assed it. I almost couldn't remove the gear at all (i wanted it tight...) and had to sacrifice the gear so i could re-use the motor mount... it was a good lesson learned. I go a lot slower now and haven't screwed up that badly since (fingers crossed).

When my new pulleys come I think I'm going to try this method on the round parts of the shaft I still have and see what happens
