Hydraulic Press vs. e-bike battery

I've always wanted to do this. I'm surprised by the e-bike battery at the end though.

did youtuber charged all batteries full before goin under press?
a 100% charged battery will do much more fire than a 50% charged battery! (even at 20% soc charged battery fire is massive!)

I agree. It appears some of these were in a pretty poor state before the press. Wish they would have taken it a step further with fully charged cells.

tha youtuber didn't even crushed a simple 3S LiPo 100C battery fully charged at 100%.. those LiPo fires are super massive!
powertool battery will give much more pressure fire, but for less time

is different to smash a 10%SOC battery vs 100% SOC battery or regular cells vs high current cells

imagine crushing a x100 box of 18650 mollicel +30A cells ,all charged at 100% or crushing x10 LiPo 100C batteries

The silverfish packs were old, and probably had no charge. No one is going to donate a new one for this channel. All he had to do was crush one of the cells that popped out by itself and see it do nothing.

It is scary though.

Scary because he was simulating what happens if you throw a battery in the trash and the compactor mashes it. To that end, the random e-waste, while smoking and hot, did not make a huge fire. In a "realistic" situation, as he described it. Compared to the 20 or so bare 18650s he crushed while standing up on end. But it was very telling to see such an explosion come from a single tool battery being crushed. That, I feel, actually good be a realistic and dangerous situation: someone randomly throwing away their Dewalt battery cuz they're sick of it.
