Humans are naturally a wasteful and neglectful species when it comes to this planet. My wife and I put up several ' no litter' signs in our area , and people dont give a fuk . They still throw their fast food trash , beer/soda cans , cigarette packs, etc all over the place. Maybe in the end, total destruction of the human race via global climate change, aint a bad alternative. I think Id rather have that , then more forced taxation by scum politicians based upon false pretexts.

I was watching videos of some 3rd world nations, and the pollution there is off the charts. The one place has a huge lake or river, that is basically called the "plastic ocean " { or something like that } ...miles and miles of plastic byproducts thrown and floating into the water by the residents.

We have awful pollution every winter and summer where i live, and people also don't give a shit even though a few thousand people die a year from it. And if you go into a local news article about pollution, there's tons of conservative people saying the pollution is from China, or it's not so bad, etc. And then liberal people freaking out. And ultimately nothing gets done - no talk of solutions.. no responsibility taken..

You could say government has disempowered people, right? some concerned citizen can't legally shove a potato in a few hummers and save grandpa - that's probably a felony. You're left with begging government to do the right thing...... at some point?

I think that we have to have major disasters to change. It's the only thing that could cut through the noise or dull automatic routines of life. What you and me see as good sense is something that a majority of people lack.
I inherently have no respect for authority. That respect must be earned from me, through a demonstration of knowledge and skill. I often butt heads with professionals, coming prepared with many days or even weeks of research. I am surely a pain in the ass.

In the thirty years leading up to the 1970s, available temperature recordings suggested that there was a cooling trend. As a result some scientists/ experts , suggested that the current inter-glacial period could rapidly draw to a close, which might result in the Earth plunging into a new ice age s. This idea could have been reinforced by the knowledge that the smog that climatologists call ‘aerosols’ – emitted by human activities into the atmosphere – also caused cooling

After this article was published, the F.D.A. removed the web page (http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/consumer/amalgams.html) that the above quotes were taken from, which is very likely in flagrant violation of the court order. The court had required them to post this information publicly.

Notice that in spite of the court, they still wrote that mercury “may” have neurotoxic effects, as if toxicologists are not really sure about it yet, and they even went so far as to pretend that brain poisonings should only be an issue to consider for infants.

The article claimed that there was a 90 % chance that we would see global temps FALL , by several degrees before the year 2000. Even though science was/is wrong about some things, doesn't mean we can throw the entire baby out with the bathwater. With a critical eye and some time investing in reading and understanding study parameters, someone of average to above average intelligence could suss out some bullshit in nearly any research paper, other than those who explicitly falsify data. In the case of falsified data, you can compare it to previous data and get an idea if it's true or not..

But my guess is that ~95% strongly opinioned people on either side of the debate are not reading research papers. It's not really about the search for truth, just the affirmation of what they currently believe.

There have been a lot of false predictions about global warming. It is no wonder to me that people are skeptical of the case, considering how many times scientific groups have been used as propaganda machines to spin lies.

But regardless of whether global warming is a problem or not, we still should figure out a way to cut pollution. It's still retarded to use our fossil fuels at this rate. Pollution still kills. Fracking and drilling are still harmful to the ecology. What's bad about fossil fuels is well known by now.

And there are hundreds of things we could do, which if added up, would produce a 25-50% pollution reduction worldwide with very little detriment to quality of life and economic factors. The AGW debate is a sort of misdirection on what we should be focusing on.... conservation... since the magic energy source with no downsides has still not materialized.
