Hello

Whilst out testing motors and controllers recently I made an error and left my watts up meter in line at 72V :? bit of a problem as they are only rated for 60V, well I had another issue which caused a bit of a short circuit ha ha and well the pack shut down on me as it should, however there was a little bit of a smell coming from the pack.

The watts up meter was fried sadly and upon checking the pack it seems the voltage has dropped to 29V, I think the large fault current may have took out the limit fet on the BMS, well this is for me an ideal opportunity to open one of these packs up and see what's inside.

I will document what I do with pictures over here so you can all see these packs in detail with their clothes off so to speak. Im hoping the BMS will be relatively easy to fix, I will also be able to see how the BMS works as well.

Doug at ev tech said that any failures (and there have not been that many) were always the BMS failing like this and this is why they are making them external so they can just swap them out and repair them easily.

I will have to get a dremmel or something and carefully cut along the rear of the pack, I will fit the whole lot inside a plastic case once I have it repaired.

Will keep you all in touch with this, should be interesting the new Lipo I have with the removable BMS is working like a charm as well and I will be fitting the 48V big blue Lipo to the KMX in the week...vroooommmm!! ha ha

Later doods
