Interesting ebike/motorbike

They describe the man as an Austrian "inventor" - using this term seems a bit of a stretch.

Pricing - $44,000  (recumpence, take note!)

Defiantly not value for money I know . If I run my x5 bike at 72v it will be about as fast. The pedal/throttle integration just looked interesting in the video.

If you go to there web page they say the dc motor is 12hp or 8kw and the battery pack is 2.9kwh. Top speed is said to be 50mph/80kmh and range is 60 to 80km.They also say something about the peddles only run to a small generator to feed the battery that part sounds like a wast of time. At the price they want it is a big rip off but just interesting to get ideas from when building your own concepts.

it's not really the revolution that they make it out to be. His pedals are acting as an alternator but like you said, it's doubtful that it recharges the batteries much otherwise the range would be much farther than 80km.

It's just a souped up pedelec system. We have pedelec bikes and we have super-bikes, so the feats this thing accomplishes is not really that extraordinary. A person could easily get similar specs for somewhere in the 5000-8000 U.S. dollar range in terms of material costs.

For that much, they might as well get a Motoczysz E1 or a Mission One (which are both expecting to launch production versions)

I agree with you all that his pricing is ridiculous, but also i don't think we should bash it, imo anything that promotes the move away from oil is to be commended?

Cheers,

D

That is kinda what I was getting at. Its a been built and marketed for the rich who want to be seen on something different. If it can get the attention of some of a popular actor, singer with money to spend it could be a good thing. Like sheep people will want to follow even if its another cheaper model. We all know if your a tec minded/diy kind person you could build it yourself.

Just think about how expensive DVD players were until everybody wanted one.

Kurt.

BTW Kurt,
You have had a double currie motor for sale, do you still have it??
i am interested..for my trailer ebike.
let me know what you want for it.
